Hello guys.
What do you prefer more, later or earlier registrations ? I think registration on last levels is a bad idea. Sometimes I like to try my hand at late registration , but at a cheaper tournaments. :)

In general I like to early register, the only problem I find my self sometimes in is that after 2 hours and 20 minutes when the late registration ends I am not that focussed any more. If I am not foccused I start to make stupid desicions that losing my buy in because of that.

Often I register between half a hour and 1 hour. It is not that much difference because your start stacks are big enough and I get not that fast distracted.

If you have a perfect focus for a long time I recommend to play from the start

I've done both and had luck (good and bad) with both. However, I think that the longer you give yourself (i.e., early registration) the better chance you have to build up a nice sized stack without feeling the need to risk it all on one hand.

I like being able to choose to play a risky hand knowing that if I mess it up (or if the Poker Gods have it in for me), I still have enough of a stack to play another couple of big hands. I hate playing a great hand but then getting called by too many lesser (and potentially lucky) hands just because I'm short.

Oh ... I just noticed the previous comment about rebuys. I tend not to play rebuy tournaments because too many players treat them like (expensive) freerolls.

I like to be early, still a lot of fish swimming around.
I like a fast & easy startup stack.

when I register late and start with half/third of the average stack it's a bit more troublesome to climb up.

Greetz.

Late. Some of the fishes usually are already dropped out, resulting in a better game quality. But you are a little below the average chip stack, but, to my mind, it's better to have a lower chip stack and play with more serious players rather than bad ones.

I would recommend a early registration. Here are the reasons:
1. It is a much more easier to be stacked up by fish in early blinds.
2. You have better read of your opponents in late stages
3. With small blinds, you can afford to play more speculative hands

Sometimes I like to wait till 50 100 or even 100-200. Seems i play loose in low levels and get many bad beats. Though it goes without saying more hands+better chances. Just have to play tighter when regestering early.

Always early because it gives you a better chance of building a decent stack. If you late reg the blinds usually grow huge and you pretty much can't play normally and are forced into folding hands you would otherwise play just because the blinds are so high. You're pretty much forced into a shove/fold strategy by then and that's no good at all

I like coming in late, especially if the late registration is 1 to 2 hours.

LOL. I just started on ACR and their late reg is insane, but not too bad.

Im playing the OD games and .10 $100 GTD MTTs, so I just late reg when I have about 15 BBs and play out the rest of the late reg period.

Some of their re-buy games look like they have a decent late reg schedule with the re-buy + add-on being available, especially the megastack games. So, I'll be looking into playing those as well.

But yea, insane late reg time.

Of course registering early is the correct way of playing poker. The later you register the more all-ins and coin flips you need to do.
Some tournament though have really high guaranteed and sort of make sense.

Late registration, especially if the stack is more than 500 big blinds...that game is so boring at the beginning. But if the stack is less than 50 big blinds (hyper turbo), you must play from beginning, and you must play very well))) ideal time for registration is, if the stack is 100-150 big blinds

I can see that opinions are divided, but i think that LR win with ER. Well, it's good that we're changing the styles of play and registration ;)

Depends on the format and how many tables you are playing at the time. Early reg is probably better because you can get more hands.

It depends, I usually do not prefer the late registration but some times if the blinds are not too high I go for it
