Just wanted to know, how do you guys recommend to play, having a large stack in a freeroll or a micro MTT? I know, that you have to be dominant when it comes to bigger tournaments, and you have to steal blinds and stuff.
But how do you play in micros, where almost everybody is pretty aggresive.

I was in a freeroll recently where a guy had a huge lead on everyone else, and I was moved to his table. He raised every hand, called most shoves with crap (I saw 76o, 29o and others) And had the luck to win most of the flips and times when he was severely behind. It got to the point where he had 4x the stack of anyone else at the table.

Then his luck ran out. He ran into someone's pocket jacks. Then he ran into my AJ. Then he ran into my pocket jacks.

short version: he went from chip leader to gone in about an orbit. I went from low-mid stack to top 5 in the same time.

Now granted, that's an extreme example, but you've gotta protect your stack. That means stealing where it makes sense to steal and not getting drawn into the shovefest unless you've got the goods. If you find you always have someone playing back at your steals, wait until you have good enough holdings to call (not necessarily premium... look at villain's stack size and how they've been playing.)

You want to play tight and almost just as carefully as you would with medium/small stack, but even in a micro there are tables where you can take advantage of your big stack. You can afford a few small mistakes, so it might be beneficial to experiment with a slightly more aggressive style at some points. Figure out which players you can take advantage of, pick your spots carefully and not too often, and steal some nice pots. Your big stack is more advantageous the later position your are in - no sensible player wants to get out of line in the blinds against a big stack bully.

If you have a large stack, then just continue what you are doing.

Meaning, your strategy at the moment is clicking.

I usually sit out, leave for a half hour or so, come back and find myself at the final table. That's just me though

Read my post on how to be a bully. You will like it, at the same time I am sure the simple practices that I use to increase my chip stack continuously with minimum risk can be used by you too. Cheers !!
