How do you play knockout tournaments? Is there difference in your play between knockouts and regular tourneys?

The difference is certainly there. Since you have presented an incentive not only to win the tournament and get a reward for each knockout.

I tend to play them exactly the same, for the most part. The only difference in my play is that calling a shove from someone could be lighter due to the incentive of direct money into your account. The extra incentive shouldn't open your range too much but should definitely be a consideration

there is little difference, even more interesting to play knockouts for me because there are additional means to identify an opponent's hand based on his actions

yeah I thought so...I also tend to play same as regulars, but sometimes bounty prizes tempt me to call with hands I would never call...I think that you should play like regular tourneys and bounty is just a bonus

Less players will get in the money compare to the regular structure.

KNOCKOUT

I was playing couple of Knockout tournament last month( Bounty Builder on PS ), and find so many players go all in preflop no matter what if opponent have short stack. If someone push all in with lets say 1200 chips , usualy they have 2 or 3callers with 3000-4000 chips. Unbelive. Couple of time I was after thats calls push all in to push out that players, but quess what ? They all call, pure bingo. And its tournament with 8,80 or 22 dollar buy in, think too much risk to get out from tournament only because of bounty.

If you pick your spots really well in knockout tournaments you can be really profitable, people tend to play more aggro (shove much lighter) in knockout mtt's compared to regular ones.

I played 44$ bounty builder with 10$ minumun for each player you knockout......is not a big diference...but you must play for chips not for money...dont call or push all in with bad cards when you see all in a player with a small stack...is better to make fold....and you gone see in short time you gone win some prizes...gl all

sometimes by being aware of the rewards for taking a player , we engage in hands that we should not play , so I think you should play the same way as a regular tournament

I would say so. You get rewarded for each player you knockout so why not..

Incentive

There are two major differences I consider when playing a knockout tournament.

1) My range for calling a shove can open up a little more.

2) My opponents range for calling my shove will open up a little more.

I have seen a lot of people get upset because they made a play that probably would have worked in a regular tournament but in a knockout it plays differently especially in progressive knockouts.

I love knockout tournaments! I play it like a normal MTT, the problem are some players that play in a loose style and keep going all in no matter what.

For me, I play pretty much the same early on, however especially in progressive knock outs my play varies later on as the bounties increase.

Each bounty in a KO tournament has a chip value, which affects pot odds and also directly affects ICM.

We can use this chip value to adjust pot odds and allow us to call +EV with a wider range.

A simple explanation would be a $1.50 tournament with a 50c bounty. You start with a 10K chips. The 50c bounty there holds a chip value of 5K chips. So when a villain shoves that we cover, our pot odds are actually +5K chips.

As for ICM in progressive KO this also factors, while our stack itself holds monetary value, and so does our opponents, his stack value is chips plus bounty. So again, we have to be ahead less often for the call to be correct (put as simply as possible without going into a lot of detail).
