Knockout>rake?

Early this month I started playing the 1.40 90 man knockout on stars .15 is the rake and .25 is the knockout bounty. It's pretty easy as there are many fish out there willing to gamble with bad odds for that quarter.

So far my percentages are good (roi is a healthy 35% or so) and while I'm not actually concerned with getting too many knockouts I get my share.

Has anyone figured out if the number of knockouts a person can get will reduce their rake costs over the long haul?

If not I"ll begin tracking it and report my findings.

My general feeling is that the two amounts will cancel out.

my best advice is to not worry about the knockouts too much and let them happen naturally. If anything they should sway your decisions a little to maybe call someone if you have them covered or maybe fold if you dont, but thats about it and just focus on winning the tournament.

Keep us posted on this, let us know your findings.
My general feeling is that the two amounts will cancel out. This is what i assume will happen, without going into analysis, i havent ever really though about the knockouts much, but i'd assume that it will even out in the long run. It might depend on your playing style a bit. Like a super aggressive maniac will probably have more knockouts than say a tighter player, but a tighter player will cash in more, so it's hard to say without and definite figures.

So far I'm up a cpl of bounties after about 10 games. A very small sample but it is around where I thought. BTW I'm not particularly focused on knockouts either.

Knockouts are imo pointless on such micro games like that 1,4dollar sng.

yeah but they attract fish who really enjoy that .25c and that equals 30% itm and a 50% roi for me.

Have always played those for the deep run instead of focusing on the knockouts. Top three spots will pay more than you taking a chance on a few knockouts. There is enough aggresive play for those, why risk it, play for the deep run and let the field thin itself. By what you say, there will be enough positional opporturnities to get chips and perhaps collect a few bounties.

For every two people you KO you will get back your rake and your bounty buy in. So you might not do it in one game but then in another you have 3 or 4 and you are on your way back. Not to mention the cash you get for placing in the money. I play the 9 person games on these.

I may have to give the 90 person games a shot.

We should do a CC invasion on one of these.

;)

When I focus on the bounties I always leave quickly...when I forget about the bounties and focus on the overall outcome I seem to produce better.

Concentrate on playing poker. Try not to change your game. But also be aware others may.

well after 40 games I've obtained 70 knockouts.

70*.25= 17.50
-40*.25= 10
-40*.15= 6

profit of $1.5 on bounties alone.

A small sample I suppose but we'll see if it continues.

Either way I made over 80$ this month on this game so I like it.

I like the 1.40 game. If you win it's at least another .50 on top of 4.50. Micro stakes don't appeal in general to some but if you're working with a small bankroll it's like getting tipped to win.

With 75% of the prize pool going towards your bust out position and only 25% to the bounty, going too far out of you way to get bounties is -EV. In some knockout tournies it's 50/50, and it's much more correct to make looser calls/moves against shorter stacks because that bounty is worth a lot more proportionally.
