Playing a local MTT on hand one with 10000k starting and 25/50 bb Hero is on Big blind with six players in hand. Two fold and Villian makes it 125 to go hero decides to make a call with K8c to see a flop as SB fold. Flop arrives as 2 c 3 d J c. Hero checks and villian bets 300, which hero calls. Turn is 6 d and hero bets 500 which villian calls. River comes 7 c making heros flush, hero checks and villain bets 1000, hero reraises to 2500 and villian reraises to 6000, at this point hero just calls and villian reveals A c Q c. The question is how should I have played this differently or is this just one of those hand that falls into variance. No history of playing with villian.

You shouldn't have RE raise the 2500, should have just called. You knew there was a hand that can beat you. Unlikely as it was, it was still possible. The idea of a multi table tournament is to make it to the cash, early on you should be cautious.

So he bet 300 into a 325 chip pot?

I would of folded pre myself, but if I did call, I would of folded on the flop to a near pot size bet...

In your situation I would of just called on the river,I don't hate the raise but first hand of a MTT you should probably play it safe.

One thing about making mistakes pre flop is that they compound into larger mistakes on later streets. This is a pretty marginal spot altogether. If I do call I'm folding to the almost near pot size bet on the flop due to the bad pot odds given. You could argue that there are high implied odds here but people often slow up when the board becomes suited. I actually don't hate reraise on the river because you are only behind one flush. On the river this is just a set up hand that and part of the game.

you fold instantly without even considering a call. Your calling out of position on the first level of a deepstacked MTT tournament with K8 suited, what are you doing?

To be honest this is hard to put down. King high flush is a pretty solid hand in poker and getting beaten by an Ace high flush is a sad situation to be in. I watched a very big player lose $100000 with a king high flush against a player with an Ace high flush they both went all in and it was like a $200k pot, clearly remember watching this.

That's just bad play the whole hand, but ignoring that, on the river, yea I don't see how you can really fold 2nd nuts. You have to call at the minimum.

given how we are at 25/50 which in most live tournaments is the 1st blind level, you shouldn't be making plays where you can put your tournament stack at risk w/o the nuts.

To me, river is badly played. If you're planning to check raise, its better to just bet/call river and even then it's still risky since villian can have the nut flush. The best move is to check/call a bet since a check/raise basically says I have a flush that got there, but if villian has the nuts then he's gonna do what he can to get the most chips from you.

You should not risk so many cards, without connected letters, patience good hands arrive

Lets analyze, preflop still ok since reason for pot odds and just want to see the flop. Flop, you check and villain overbets a little and you call since your drawing, still fine. Turn, you bet equals the pot and villain calls. I think you can just check and here and he might check as well making the pot small since you are still drawing and so is he. At the river, he might just value bet and you will call ofcourse and at least you still has sizeable chips left since the tourney is still early.

Chasing the flush has been a very risky game play for me in the past. Especially when you're sitting with the King. I would pray for the Ace to pop giving you the for sure high card draw. Either way, it's hard to say you played it poorly, he just had the better hand.
