how often do you get to a river with the best hand and then call without really checking the implications of the river card.

this seems to be my main weak spot at the moment, so was wondering if anyone else suffers this too.

river is crucial because this is where the pot is big. Also there are no more draws they either hit or miss.

It is always a good idea to take a second and really think, what hands have me beat and how likely is the villain to have one of them. If your not watching the river closely usually that means you are giving too much value to things like top pair and 2 pair.

Yes I've done that more times than I would like to admit . Especially with trips . So I try not to snap call and take a second and think how the hand and the betting went before I make my river play .

River is the ultimate card in poker holdem. It has often brought me happiness but also sadness. We often win, quinta served in the flop, then, the turn and the river did lose flush.

Yeah always keep an eye on river and if its a really scary card for your top pair or something that you hit on the flop check behind with showdown value or check call and in some situations find a fold for big bets etc..

Yes, I also did this sometimes when I got a good hand on the flop and did not consider that I had made two more cards that improved my opponent's hand ...

Rather than get burned by a card that I don't want to see on the river, lately I have been paying more attention to my and my opponent's stack to pot ratio, and the chance of a bad card coming on the river. If I have made the decision that I am not folding (the pot is too large to give up on, or folding leaves me with poverty stack) I put it all-in and let my opponent make the decision on whether they want to take the chance on the river.

many times I have to fold on the river, 90% I have the regret!

now if you arrive on the river closes his eyes and also plays the card!

I lost a lot of hands that I was in front in all the game, but the rivers cards made me lose

Now I'm triying to make something different, like put the villains in a dificult position, and don't givin odds for they.

But still difficulty to plays against some players, like some call station, I prefer to control the pot and don't put many chips in a pot with many draws, or against certain players.

It's really important to stay in the game for the whole game. I've seen lots of guys stay in a hand for the most unlikely reasons, then magically make their hand on the river (e.g. two pair: 22 & 77). That final bet is telling at least 95% of the time. If they hit it they bet it and your Aces are no longer relevant.

The river card is a weak point for me in a different way. I know the implications whatever river card comes but I have a difficult time telling if the opponent is bluffing or did he actually hit his flush, straight, set, or the card that will beat you. Or did the opponent already have a made hand all the way through. So, you should study the person playing style, hand range, and how likely it is that he made his had on the river and the percentage of him bluffing in that situation.

I always try to consider what another player might be drawing to especially when they limp call my bets. If a 3rd suit hits the board on the river, I check to see if my opponent has completed a flush. Sometimes the board will pair on the river so in that situation, if I didn't complete a full house of my own or made 3 of a kind, I again check to see if my opponent has any of these. It's amazing how one little card on the river can change anything but i can and often does change everything. cheers

if the pot is very big and my chips are not all in the pot, then I will not pay a big raise without having anything on the river, if I do not have a flush or straight draw, I'll just throw them away from the sin further, yet poker is math but not lotto.

You can not ignore River card. It is the moment where your full house can become a under house. So pot controlling is very important in regular tournaments.
