Say it is still early in a tournament. You just lost an average sized hand to the tables most agressive player. Your KK getting trumped by a AA caught on the river. The average chipstack at this point is 3300. Your sitting with 1000 and there are 150 people still in it. You get 10 Js are you slow playing to stay alive, Pushing all in on your 10 Js or waiting for something better to push.

Still early, as in blinds are around 15-30, 25-50, so you have at least 20 big blinds. I'm not pushing here with 10J, because there are no antes, and by stealing you are only winning 45 to 75 chips, and you're risking getting called with a marginal hand and losing 1000.
1000 chips looks bad to be at near the beginning because you see you are already so far behind everyone else. But really, you ought to think in terms of the blinds and antes. You can still afford to wait for premium hands. If there's 150-300 chips in the pot before anyone has entered, and its folded to you then yes you want to push, but thats not likely to be the case here. Try to be patient and grind your way back up by playing well.

need to know what the blinds are. if they are still small, I'm not pushing at this stage with 10 Js or not. You've still got enough chips left to wait awhile.

keep it tight mate untill the the blinds reach over 50/100+. Best to start stealing when the antes come into play as they'll help u chip up. If u've still got a chip + chair then u've still got a shot to double/tripple up. Jus gotta get lucky lol.

If it's still early I would not play the 10 J and wait for better cards and keep your game tight since you're way below the average chipstack.

Lets make this easy, without knowing the blinds amount.
Take the amount of your stack, divide it by the total of both blinds and antes(if any), which should give you your "M" value.

If you have an "M" of 10 or less, you are in a clear push/fold mode, provided there are no raises before you.

If you have no Idea what I'm talking about, you may just have to pick up "Harrington on hold'em" vols 1 & 2.

Hello,
Have patience to see better hands, or else push is the last best chance you have.

No push here. There are a boat load of hands early in a tournament that don't need a push. 10 Js is one of them. Wait for a better spot.
