So I've been really getting back into poker online and have been doing well for myself again. I want to start doing some strategical studying on the subject of no-limit tournament play. The best way I used to accomplish this was by doing sweats with other cool and intelligent MTT players. So I am making this thread thinking about possibly asking others if they want to sweat some MTTs or parts of MTTs out with me! Not sure how soon, and most likely on the weekends (This is better anyway, bigger and better MTTs!) but I def want to get this going!

Anyone else wanting to do the same just say something in here!

what do you mean by sweat ?

A sweat session is when two or more players get together on Instant Messaging or some other form or chat to analyse their play together.

Always interested in another view point. I've started this myself and would like to join you. Currently i find TeamViewer to be the best for this. It's a screen sharing program with voice over internet and it's free!!

It's also a remote access program but don't get alarmed. That and meetings are two separate tabs on the main screen and no-one will have access to your computer that you don't allow.

Anyways, it's a good idea and let us know what you prefer to use for the sweat session.

Yep, we've been using TV here for a while at CC!

No doubt! Reall it's all about setting up times and tournaments! This weekend is looking really good for me if anyone wants to start doing this. A very good tournament to sweat imo would be the $11 15K GTD on Merge on Sundays!

Would it be ok for a noob to sit in and watch? I wont be able to bring anything to the table as far as teaching any thing. But i would love to watch better players and listen to what they have to say so I can learn.

A sweat session is when two or more players get together on Instant Messaging or some other form or chat to analyse their play together.

Also implies only one of the 2 (or more) is actually playing, while the other (or others) are watching and commenting (privately amongst those involved). This is not colluding. Colluding would be when more than one of the group is playing at the same table.

Ummmmmm... right, not colluding. But cheating? How about commentary whilst the hand is in play.

"You gotta fold man" or "Push, push, he's bluffing" or "I know this guy. He always folds to a 3bet here."

If none of this goes on, cool. But if it does, it's cheating. No wiggle room here.

the term you're looking for is "ghosting". its a very grey area between sweating someone to help them/to coach them and sweating them to help them play better.

in my eyes, if you're discussing thought processes (i.e. did you think about doing this/i think this other line is more profitable) after the hand has occurred then it's fine. however, if during a sweat someone is deep in a tournament and just asking a more experienced player what to do each hand, that's ghosting and unethical

of course, there are plenty of players out there, as i've read about on 2p2 and seen first hand with different styles of play, who have no qualms about ghosting players who are deep in big tournaments

When I do sweat sessions I explain the reasoning behind my decisions. we talk before and after hands but I never tell people what to do during the hand.

ditto. this ^
No doubt it's rampant in the online tourney community... but as OP states, this isn't what he's referring to in this thread.

id be up for some of this, im mainly a tournament player anywhere from $1-$11 usually and wouldnt mind discussions and people watching me/watching other people. right now though seems if you watch me you get to see QQ lose to any ace that calls.. past two days knocked out of five tourneys with QQ vs AJ or smaller ace. most recently QQ vs AT. Flop AAK. Gotta love it :D

Depends on the amount of players! I used to specifically do sweats for 180 man SNGs :) I am Re-downloading TV tonight so if anyone wants to do a sweat tonight I would not mind!
