So I’m in my normal Saturday $210 deep stack event at my local casino, starting stacks are $35K.

The blinds are $500 and $1K no ante and have about $65K and this is the 5th 30 minute level.

I’m dealt :ah4: :kd4: from UTG +2 and raise to $2300. I get 7 callers; including the player immediately to my left! He did take a bad beat – but one that was deserved (this guy is a total A-hole, I’ve played him before) as was tilting as bad as I have ever seen anyone tilt – that’ll be important in a minute.

The pot is huge for this level and is about $17K.

The flop comes :8c4: :ks4: :6s4:

The SB called pre-flop and now moves all-in for ~30K.

Now I don’t see how I can fold here, I think he’s drawing (he’s an amateur and we all know this is a standard move) but then again, he could have Kings up too. Nonetheless I feel like I have no choice and move all in over the top.

The dealer then calls as well for what turned out to be ~$40K.

The SB shows :qs4: :4s4: - the dealer shows :5c4: :4h4:

Turn :7h4:

River :2c4:

Right –OK so that was fun! Anyway, there was nothing I could do there; pretty standard right?

So then a few hands later I’m in the BB and my tilting friend to the left limps from UTG. One other player makes a min raise to $2K and gets 6 callers including me as I add $1K to my blind with :kc4: :qh4:

UTG then moves all-in in mega-tilt fashion for more than I had, ~$30K (I only had about $24K after the last disaster) and everyone folds to me in the BB.
I’m not sure if I’ve done a good enough job of explaining how “on-tilt” this guy was, but an all-in call with King high wasn’t even borderline, so I call.

He shows :jd4: :9d4:

Flop :ks4: :4h4: :qd4:

Turn :10d4:

River :3c4:

And I’m going home!

So in a matter of two hands, I went from a double+ starting stack to zero. But I don’t regret any of this, I don’t think I would change any of it and it was just one of those days; but what do you think?

There was nothing you could do. Some days the Poker Gods seem to have it in for you.

The first hand you only raised 2.3bb's so you really can't complain about getting 7 callers or w/e.

The second and is meh.

He said the guy was an a-hole who was on tilt, why not raise more utg to make him pay more with his shitty hands that he calls with?

I have recently adopted the advice of Jonathan Little and that’s where the 2.25 raise comes from (by the way there are no $50 chips in this structure, so 2.25 is impossible in the $500/$1000 level – that’s why it was $2300 and not $2250).

Obviously if I think the villain has Kings Up I have to fold, but I just thought that to be a bigger than small portion of his range – if that makes any sense. Any one of the blinds may feel obligate to call with ATC in this situation given the pot odds, so I kind of have to put Kings Up in his playable range. But unless I know he has Kings Up, I think I have to call and I did, the largest portion of his range was a draw just like it turned out to be.

Personally, I can’t believe the button called as well. He’s one of the best players in my local room and is a local pro named Jamal. I don’t see the logic with his call. From his perspective he’s only getting 2:1; granted it’s a giant pot and that’s 2:1 on his entire stack, but he certainly has the worst hand and worst draw; He even said that when he flipped them over “I’ve got the worst hand.” So I don’t know what the hell happened and what possessed him to call there – but he did and I lost!

Now the second hand is where the tilting A-Hole comes into play. If someone else would have called I would have gone away, but once it’s folded back to me with two painted cards after a tilting player limp shoves from UTG, I’m not getting away from it – I can’t ever see myself folding there.

So it was just one of those days. Nonetheless, with 7 callers on the first hand; should I have folded to the SB’s shove? Then the KQ hand would have never occurred or had its’ dynamics changed drastically and maybe I would have retained my seat. I think it’s clear in hindsight that if I fold the AK, I don’t get busted a few hands later, but I also think that’s highly results orientated and lose knowing that I got them in good twice.

yea it was just one of those days.........your ak raise preflop was good that many callers someones just trying to get lucky and become chip leader. as ive learned in this certain situation it doesnt matter your hand anymore w that many callers someone could potentially have you beat. depends on the kind of player you are but i honestly could fold that ak in that position. i wouldnt move it all in. go for it if you wanna but obv someones got flush draws or straight draws or maybe even a set? or two pair? think how many people called you statistically you might only be a coinflip? i wouldnt risk the stack on it. and as far as the k q goes yea id move that in cuz ur stack is low. gl to you. you seem like an aggressive player.

Oh it wasn’t much – first prize in these live $200 buy-in tournaments is usually between $5K and $6K. To be honest I didn’t even look this time, I rarely do, I was still at least 6 hours from the bubble.
