Good luck to all of you this month!

My goals are simple:
  1. Achieve gold status in Iron Man.
  2. Have 2-3 coaching sessions with new coach.
  3. Win some money playing sng's!
  4. Final table an MTT - either online or live.

3. get some decent points in league games, stop drinking heavily the night before:D
4.Play in some MTT's if and when i have the time to do so.

I am trying to get more into SnG's again as I haven't played them in a while but when I did I was pretty successful. The last week of May I played 100 SnG's(small sample, I know) and was ITM 50% and my ROI I believe was somewhere around 25%. So this month I would like to play more SnG's, gain some points and win some money wishing I was out in Vegas with the crew, but realizing that it's unrealistic with how work is going... =(

For the month of June, I'm gonna try to stick to $3.30 SnGs only, no cash games. I'm gonna allow myself to play only $3.30 6 seat UT, both full stack and short stack (300 chips) and I'll probably play some tournies as well (up to $5 buy in unless I satty into one higher). I'll stick to the $3.30's until I get to $200 and then I might move up to the $5.50's. Not sure about that though.

I keep a really nice ROI on SnG's but usually end up killing myself in cash games. So, if anyone catches me playing cash games on Absolute (screen name krokieman126) post it in here with screen shot and I'll send you $10.

Do you already know which MTTs you want to play in Vegas?

I started listing tournaments that might be of interest to me last night and will probably finish that up today. Then I will pick some for sure and some for maybe. I will definitely be playing in the Ladie's Event in the Deep Stack Extravanga at the Venetian on June 30th. I am likely to play in a few more of those nlhe events as well. Check out the schedule for those:

http://www.venetian.com/uploadedFiles/The_Venetian/Gaming/PokerRoom/Deep_Stack/DeepStackIII10.pdf

I would really love to play in one of the 1k or 1.5k wsop bracelet events - nlhe - but that is a lot of my bankroll to commit to one tournament when I am going to be there for 16 days. Here is that schedule:

I have a thong - but I hate wearing those things. I did order a CC hoodie and I love it - so will wear it when I can.

Yeah, I get chaffed horribly when I wear my CC thong. But Crystal likes to point and laugh so I pretty much have to wear it daily.;)

Weren't you going to stake me for the Ladie's Event? :D

The Venetian's deepstacks look like nice options. But maybe it's even better to be sitting at the cash tables while people are busting out of them? :)

WSOP 54 is tempting. And obviously it's within BR if you get it by placing in the OFC.

Yea - #54 is a possibility depending on how I have done leading up to that day.

Oh goody! Everyone give a great big hoorah for variance! OMG 300 chip ultra turbos are beginning to put me on monkey tilt. First 27 games today I ran a nice 75% ROI. Now I'm back down to a (still nice) 25%. Think I'm gonna call it a day on that note. But first day of June still not too bad.:)

June is Here!

Goal:
1) Play enough to hit silver star status on Pstars
2) try and place on at least one leader board
3) Hopefully have something left to cash out at the end of the month :)

DG, I am relatively knew. Could you, would you provide a short tutorial on reading your graph?

I read it that you played a total of 40 tournies and was up about $70 after 27 tournies..... 19 of 27 tournies were winners with 8 losses? What is the red line? Is this net earnings?

Did you use some sort of poker software to arrive at this graph or what?

Appreciate any and all insight and thanks, Wally

The red line is the Holdem Manager, 'luck adjusted line' so it basically shows that he is running above expected value, or 'running good'. The green line is the actual profit or loss he has made. So at the start of his graph and in the middle, he was running very well, then he ran worse, resulting in being around about at expectation. If that makes ssnese

The software is tracking software, it tracks your games and stats as well as opponants.

Thanks Wizzim!

It's basically like he said. The green line is the way I actually ran. The blue line is "rakeback adjusted" $ won. And the red line is how I would have ran had all of my hands played out the way that they should have; meaning that there were probably a few times over the course of playing that I sucked out and won when the probability of myself winning was low.

You can get the same graph by going to holdemmanager.com and using their 15 day free trial. You can also do the same thing with PokerTracker3 software and then decide for yourself which one you like better if either.

But both are basically stat trackers that log hundreds of calculations for yourself and the other players you are playing. You can then use those statistics to hone in on your game or to look back at hands you played and see how you could play them better. Or, use the combined total stats to find weaknesses in your game that would be otherwise hard to find without the software.

BTW, what formula do they use for this luck adjusted line for SNGs?

Good question, i don't know... I know that the HEM red line does incorporate ICM somehow, but the exact formula they use i have no idea. I could probably find out for you, if your interested, though. It is a lot more accurate graph than the PT3 one, that's all i know.

Probably should mention that i'm playing SNGs on a more or less regular basis now. Buying step2 tickets with my FullTilt points, converting them to step3 playing super turbo STT, then either playing a super turbo matrix or converting them to step4 and playing a regular matrix at that level. Screwed up once last month and registered for a step4 instead, so I ended up with a step5 ticket with which i played a normal $216 STT, but that's not really in my plans for FTP to cash conversion.

Here is an explanation on how HEM uses LAW for SnG's.

Once you hit silver star it is realy worth the extra effort to go for gold. The difference in those 2 is reasonable to accomplish.

But one step at a time - good luck with your goals!

Here's a situation I've been running into lately, I'm not sure if I'm playing it correctly or not-

-blinds: 100/200
-stacks:
UTG: 1500
HJ: 1600
CO: 2400
BTN (hero): 2800
SB: 3200
BB: 1000
- SB has been tight, shown down quality hands, we can assume he will not 3-bet light
- BB is loose fish-type player, doesn't really consider position or opponent ranges, etc.
- we have A6s, or some similar steal-type hand

Is this a good spot to steal, based on stack sizes and reads?

Id say, raise/calling the BB is fine in that spot. Since our std raise is like 500, were priced in to call a shove. obviously folding to the SB. But with reads given, i feel like raising with A6s is fine
