I've been rivered 6 times in a row. What the hell?

I've played a little spin n go for fun. 6 times now in a row I've been rivered from an all in. I would be ahead w/ a highcard or pair and BOOM river hits there card. Just then someone was constantly shoving. I call w/ K10s and has K9o, flop hits the K and than he rivers the 9. I know variance can be involved but 6 times IN A ROW. It's just so weird. Anyone else had this before?

Yeah, me, last month. That's how the whole damn month ran. It's variance, and sometimes she can be a real bitch. If you GII good, and they suck out, well, them's the breaks. It happens. If you're making the right decisions, making +EV plays, then you will win -- maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but you will win.

You need to get away from results oriented thinking, stay off tilt. Nothing prolongs a stretch of runbad like steaming. Don't do that.

Yea everyone has a bad streak every once in awhile. Just limit how often your pot commiting all in on hands, not every hand has to be a huge come up. Win some average size pots. Win some big wins. All about balance

re-read OP's post. He's playing 'spin 'n go' - - it is shortstack poker.

haha can't count the amount of time it happened, especially on spin n go's .

like I've been advised on here, just bite the bullet and keep your head right, and fight through it till you come out the other side of variance.

but on another note. i ****ing hate spin n go's.. those lying fuks. random my ass. every time i spin, 9 times out of 10 it lands on $2. or double whatever the stake i spin. how is that random? thats false advertisement. lmao. i usually just play them on breaks to pass time. not good for money making imo

1, get used to it.

2, 6 is far from being a lot.

4 tips,

1, If you miss the flop be prepared to fold to aggression.

2, Don't button raise just for the sake of button raising, save those chips for the premiums.

3, If the small blind limps, and you don't have a premium hand don't raise, look at the flop for free and go from there.

4, Be aggressive when you have a hand but not too aggressive to scare them off.

You don't play enough of them in my opinion.

I play a lot of them, and I mean a lot, and regularly get 4x 6x and less regularly 10x, I've had 1 25x. and that's mainly $3 and $7 games.

But I am a degenerate.

e.g. these are just some of the better ones I have won.

i don't play that much at all, but sometimes after a big win in a mtt i go crazy and load 3 or 4 at a time 5 times in a row, and the most I've ever got is 3x buy in, but I've never gone higher than $7. maybe thats a factor

I normally don't go over $7 but I have my degenerate moments, the players aren't much different in the higher buy ins.

1 more tip and people will probably disagree with this and I can understand why they would, but I have noticed if I lose a game and reg for another and another and another straight after each loss they are almost always the 2x games, if I leave a 5 or 10 min gap, sometimes longer I hit the 4x and 6x games more regularly.

Good luck.

ill defo give it a try . why not,

and @partz about poker just being a bluff, thats gonna cost you a lot of money, especially online, every book I've read, videos I've studied, I've learned you bluff less online. and more on live tables, but thats not it, theres much more to it than a bluff

Yeah this happens at live casino all the time, people play any two cards to the end, I have to bet aggressively to push them out early. But there are some stubborn people that stay in for long time just for that all in.

It's not really random is it? In order to pay out those $1,000+ pots once in a blue moon there has to be many, many $4 pots to pay for it. I guess we just have to trust that the poker room is not favoring themselves in the long run and hope that all the money bet is being given out in prizes (minus their rake of course). I guess it's like the slots which really aren't random either, they're all programmed to favour the house.

I do believe that if you were to put in a large enough sample, it'll work out fairly for you.

Just did a MTT 180 man and someone shoved on flop I call with TPTK. Shows J4 against my AJ he hits 4 on river (6.8% chance of him winning) Finished in 9th when I was in 4th place. 9 times now including SnG too.

I don't know what my sample size is but I almost only play Stars Spin n Go games and I am making it to Silver Star every month, if that gives you an Idea.

I have bad runs sometimes dropping $100 in a couple of days, most of the $30 games are when I get to my last $30 and take a shot at the title with the thinking that I might as well go for it as I'm looking at a deposit soon anyway, and so far I've been lucky.

I don't underestimate anyone, but a person that thinks it's all about bluffing and is a constant raiser is VERY easy to exploit.

I'm willing to deliberately limp and fold to a raise so bluffers can think I am a fishy folding player. :D So when they do it once too often I call with the nuts.

Good Luck

downswing

Good question. since every player is struggling with that
The only answer i find to this is u must ask yourself.
1. How does it affect your play?
2. How does it affect your Roll?
I usually stop after 2 bad beats as i know it will affect my process of thinkin and i will make some wrong adjustment to my game.
and the effect of wrong play in ur Roll is worst than 6 bad beat in a row.
so get away from it if you cant handle and just .... go to cardchat forum or to the gym.
good mindset = good play = good results (if lucky).
have fun in the tables
