Basically when Im playing mtt's and sit n go's for long hours or multi tables I tend to tighten up and just play solid for the most part playing my good hands or equity made hands strongly waiting for spots and not going to over the top as im content with my profits for the week/day.

at this point I sometimes start struggling stack size tends to just be on par with average or im folding to often I find myself now stuck in this game mode...

its not until I tilt or get annoyed with my performance or losses that I up my aggression start putting people under alot of pressure trying to steam roll through - I rediscover fearless aggression and in nearly all cases im back and playing well....
a week or so later i'l adapt back to a content game just waiting for spots and playing anything that has potential (which seems to decrease win rate)

Is this normal to keep drifting back into a playing style?

my natural play style is agressive, i raise and re raise alot which makes people overplay there hands by showdown, however when in small - micro stakes it can still help, but usually the best play style is to play tight and agressive simply because the players play too many hands, and dont need you to do this to get paid off..... however if in a MTT the table is sitting tight you have to adapt your game and loosen up a bit

so yes it is normal to drift back into a playing style, because its a playing style that works for you,
and remember the basics, even though in a MTT you should be sitting tight, this is only whilst so many people are being loose at the start, the moment they start to tighten up, you loosen up

yea this especially works for me in standard blind mtt's 45 man and less, simply by playing solid and in position there often is a spot where someone bets into you or they make big leaks by playing dominated hands putting themselves into tough spots,

generally when I go card dead or dont get any good spots I find myself going into auto pilot folding etc reluctant to get the cards in the next thing you know its final table and im need of a hand.

I know in theory all I can do is target players and spots, but guess its my concentration, so focused on clicking buttons lol.

ive heard nananoko say he plays even after he tilts. hes able to adjust and adapt and play past tilt. its hard for alot ofplayers to keep playing when we tilt, because its sort of like working out your brain over the limits. also i guess its kind of like your having a warm up session, then putting yourself into the real game.

in the long run. its always good knowing when to quit and knowing how to manage time. now is it tilting, if your just playing long sessions and winning, or are you taking beats and losing and then still playing..? because if your just playing long but profiting, i wouldnt consider that tilt and just maybe a long session. its good that you recognize it early on though.

Wow , you are right :) I dont know why this happens . But yes , after tilting for a while , our minds will Hit back . And some how we make some good moves and kind of play well :)

I know exactly what you mean . I have the same thing , but my tilting also have to do with a site . If i win in some site , then i lose in some other site at the same time .
After a while I start winnin in the other site & lose in the one im winnin !! I done know & i think will never understand :) hahaha Nice post

Yes it is normal. Not only normal, but desired. Desired in the sense that showing different styles will keep your opponents guessing more than either tight, or loose alone can do. You want to show them that you can limp with aces or jam with deuces.

Incidentally, (IMHO) in tourney play, average stacks are fine. A little limiting at times, but not deadly. Big stacks become targets, just like agro players become targets. Occasionally they/we will barrel through a tourney, but more often that only lasts for a period of time that generally is shorter than the length of the tourney.
