Is it a big disadvantage to only have 1 bullet in a re-entry?

I was looking at the miniftops on Full-Tilt poker and saw that of all the events the main event was the only one I would be willing to play and whats more is that it would be on my birthday! what a treat.

unfortunately upon further reading I realised that the main event is a Re-entry and since I would need to sell action just to pay the $75 entry fee without any re-entries, I obviously wouldn't have that option. My Question is weather I would be at a big disadvantage should I decide to have a go at it? My concern is that with re-entry available there will be players with bigger bankrolls who will be more willing to put their tournament life on the line.

I wouldn't say a big disadvantage.

Sure, like you say people will be willing to gamble more and take more marginal spots. The thing is though, this now gives you even more opportunities to build a stack. I'd suggest just playing your normal solid game and make adjustments like calling down light against the looser players who will be re entering. So long as you are still making +EV plays it shouldn't matter to much.

Gl and see you in the the event hopefully :)

Re-entry has two features:
1. Increases prize money.
2. Increases the probability of winning a professional.
The first is good, but the second is obvious that professional lose stack more likely to make re-entry than bad player. This will increase the percentage of the final tables, therefore, increase the number of tournaments that will benefit the good players.
If you have never had prefinal and final tables, I do not advise doing re-entry so as an advantage you will not, but only if you have a big bankroll you can. Stick to BRM always...

Re-Entry is something that you can use to your advantage IF you have big enough bankroll...however if u enter more than twice your just putting yourself at a disadvantage for you will have to cash much higher to profit....ive seen guys enter 10-15 times in a re-entry tourney and just never really got it...Good Luck in Mini FTOPS!

Going into a re-entry and rebuy with only 1 bullet is a disadvantage.

But it can also be very lucrative. You will have the whales donating and maniacs trying to build a stack quick, which means easy double ups or bust early for us.

Having thought about it I've decided I will have a go at the event. The reason is because the event in question isn't like a typical rebuy tournament, it's a re-entry tournament with a good structure and deep starting stacks.

Thanks for the responses.

i have played re entry mtt and never with the intention of re entering ,and for the most part if i do not make the money by the time i bust out the stacks are to big to compete against with another buy in anyway.

It just depends on your approach. The more rebuys you make means the ROI is smaller. Furthermore, players who "loosen up" to double up because they know they have a rebuy are giving away their chips. Be patient and build your stack without a rebuy so when you run deep the winnings are huge $$$.
