This episode happened to me recently. The player to my left started teasing me and insulting me, my heart rate changed and I realized that I made mistaken decisions.

Being the player on your left, who will greatly influence your game, how would you deal with it?

practice and patience are the only weapons against this.. if you could see how often it happens, just in the freerolls I think a lot of members would be suspended for a little while..

You need to work to use that negative energy against who's trying to attack you with.. with time, you'll see that more the trash talker talks, more he's tilting and finally you'll benefit from this!

Another advantage when you're playing against a trash talker, you know that you're not playing against a bot.. well I wouldn't be suprised if bots are programed to trash talk but odds are low here! :p

only I would ignore the opponent concentrating on my game and soon expected an opportunity to knock down the talker from the table!

I was assuming this was live instead of online, otherwise why would it matter if the person was on your left or your right or across the table? At any rate, posters have already commented on online solutions. If it is live you need to seriously asses how you deal with these situations in life in general in my opinion. Manners, politically correct actions and speech, and general politeness seem to be on a sharp decline over the last several years. If some random person's insults is having such a profound effect on you mentally and physiologically I think you should put some effort in to understand why and how to deal with those feelings and those situations. This will help you at the poker table and a million other places in life. In the mean time just tell the person politely to stop being a jerk and if you need backup call the floor at the casino and explain the situation to them. If the floor is also not bringing a satisfactory resolution then ask for a table change. Sitting there stewing in your own rage to the point that it hurts your game / decisions / money is the nut low. At least take a walk / bathroom break and calm down. At any rate, good luck.

Turn off your chat or, if you are tech challenged, stick a sticky note over the chat box. Problem solved.

Great Idea, and ACR will suspend your chat for you, if you send them an email. Then youre not tempted to even open chat. If youre talking about online.

I'll also add that this is a common leak and I've seen it in person. A friend of mine actually talks trash on purpose to take people out of their A game and it works more than you would think it should. In his case it's not necessarily direct insults or anything hateful but more braggadocios statements, challenges, and questioning of how others play a hand in a particular spot. So while most of these people are probably just popping off at the mouth because they are mad that they lost a pot and are venting, some people are actually well within their emotions and just targeting you to get you off your A game so they can capitalize on your mistakes.

He did it on purpose to destabilize you. Next time listen to music. Stay in your bubble. I do it like that.

He did his job, throw you off your game, learn to accept it. If it is fulgar or personal ask the dealer or floor person to handle it, most places will. Personally nothing bothers me so just ignore. Hopfully I can get a big pot from that person, then look at them with a big shit eating grin. It gets them really upset hahahaha.

I had this happen. Live as well as online. Online I usually laugh it off or instigate it depending on my mood.

Live, the guy shoved me with a subpar hand and I doubled my stack. I was oblivious to his issue until he stormed off the table, was the second hand I doubled my stack on the guy. Anyway the guy next to me stated didn't you hear what he said to you? He is really pissed at you right now I started laughing out loud and said no I was too busy counting my chips to pay any attention to him. [emoji41]

I'd ask him why he was doing that, and then ask for the next seat change if it's a cash game. Otherwise I'd just take his money, by winning.

Don't ignore and use the information. What is this person reading on you? If his bets increase or decrease and correlate to your responses then you are in a position to set up a nice trap.
For instance say he says something nasty and you lose and your hand is shown. Play along..it doesn't seem like you are the type to throw a pretend tantrum so lose a few of these then set up the kill. Then do it again..and again...then laugh.:secruity:

Definitely put that kind of people on ignore list, insults and trash talk are tools of primitive people so try to stay above it, play your own game and concentrate on just that, it'll be hard at first but im sure you'll be able to manage it :)

Reply in a humorous and polite manner .
You will be surprised how fast these folks tilt themselves out of a game. Usually they expect a reaction like their own action. But when you reply with „thanks you’re welcome and GL 2 U 2“ after they told you to **+* your mother then they don’t know how to deal with this

My opinion

My problem stems with avatar looks. You have to play the way the avatar should play like. There are rules that go with avatar. Like this avatar isnt suppose to be friends with that avatar. Another rule is your suppose to play the way the avatar plays like. No deviation. Absorb the spirit and do it. Some avatars can do this but leave it up to you there. Others can help you there but leave the it up to you with this.
