Good afternoon friends!
I am entering the world of poker and I would like you to guide me about this beautiful game. Please apologize if my English is not clear.
I would like to be told if there is a table with a range of hands to play correctly the initial stage of a tournament. I'm new to poker and I find it hard to play the right way when tournaments start. I would like them to provide me with the tools to improve on this.
Is there a range of hands to play preflop in the initial stage of a tournament? Should I be conservative when the tournament starts?

All your help will be of great importance to keep improving in the game. Thank you very much to all!
:)

It depends on what style of play you want to go with.

An effective strategy is starting off playing tight and preserving your chips while the blinds are so low.

This way you establish an image at the table and you have a strong hand when you do play.

I would recommend reading a tournament book by a professional player.
They include hand ranges, instructions, tactics and guidelines which will boost your ability and skill.

Back when I was starting out, I had the same problem as you're facing right now. I didn't know what to play, how to play, kept on experimenting with different hand ranges provided in different sites, forums (like this one Pokerstrategy Big Stack Hand Chart). You can always refer to them, but like someone pointed out, there is not a single chart that would fit all types of games you're interested in. Then a friend helped me out, pointed me to invest some time reading some fundamental books namely,
The Theory of Poker (David Sklansky)
The Mathematics of Poker (Bill Chen, Jerrod Ankenman).

I read them, understood it and applied it. And my game has improved. You have to apply what you've learnt and gain some experience, nothing beats that.

A good strategy for the beginning stages of a tournament is to play many hands while the blinds are small. Because you want to the as many flops as possible and if you hit on the flop or have a good draw, you will then want to capitalize on it. This is where you can build your chip stack into a nice size and then play tighter as the blinds go up or you can play more aggressive if you have a nice stack against the shorter stacks at your table. I hope this helps you in your tournament play.

I agree with MKaizer. I like to play more loose preflop in the beginning, trying to see cheap flops. You can make great stack if u hit the flop with hands that others would have folded. If u dont hit the flop, no problem, you wont loose many chips.

Welcome, I've been playing for 2 months and I'm making adjustments in my game, but as MKaizer07 spoke in the early stages it opens the possibility of seeing more hands on the flop and hitting a good hand to make your stack grow fast and even if you do not Hit nothing you will not jeopardize your future in the tournament as the blinds are still cheap
