I'm on tilt atm.

Sitting in a coffee shop and just want to slam my pc on the floor as hard as possible.

Been in the finals of my last 10 micro limit 6max NLHE SNG's.

Finished first place only once.

Need tips, I'll do anything to get better at HU play/strategy.

Going to read over "The Mersenneary Ebook". Anyone read it before? Is it worth reading?

Anyone have any helpful advice for HU play?

If you are struggling a lot, then go with NASH equilibrium ranges, it's kind of like a quick fix for HU play that will stop you being exploitable and/or making mistakes.

That's just a short term fix though, long term, playing some HU sng's really helped me on the postflop stuff you can do to people. HU is really about fully working out how someone approaches the game, and picking apart their weaknesses. it's probably the hardest form to play i would say. Post some hands, or a HH in here and get some comments.

never heard of that book, but it's from HUSNG.com and it looks really good (might actually have to pick this one up myself!) so i say go for it, read up :)

Thanks for the compliments guys.

There won't be too quick of a fix, but if you really don't know what you're doing, watching a few of the videos in the thread in my signature should really give you some good tools to work with.

Just make sure you're not folding too many hands in either position, make sure you're not raising 3-4x the button, make sure that you're not playing shove or fold above 8bb stacks (when the smallest stack has less than 8bbs, then you can do shove or fold and just use the nash equilibrium, otherwise, ignore it).

If you watch some videos, you can get an idea of some good calling/3betting hands OOP, and good raising/limping hands on the button. Be aware, they will vary quite a bit based on your opponent, but you can at least get an idea of what is correct a lot of times preflop vs various types of opponents, and how to adjust to common opponents. Don't ignore postflop play either, but I'd start out by focusing mostly on how to get started in the hand the right way, beginning with preflop play.

Good luck.

There's no reason to throw your laptop on the floor. 2nd place isn't so bad. It just takes practice. I tried playing the poker bot at pokersnowie.com heads up for a few days, and it did seem to help some. It's a free download for 10 days.

I like to bet huge with any pair or better. About 90 % of the time.

Otherwise fold and consider it a good fold. Move on.

I need a lot more experience and help as well at HU.
