I'm supposed to play within my limits.

At the same time I'm supposed to only play with money I care about.

Which matters more? What do you do when you stop caring about your play?

When you stop caring about your play, you should take a break imo.

I pretty much have been taking a break FWIW. I only regularly play the CC tourneys last couple weeks.

I do better at SNG's and Tourneys than cash, unless there is a cash bonus incentive from Full Tilt.

At that point I get dragged into the Iron Man bonus system and start caring to much about the medals and the free money 3 years from now.

I quit them end of April and went back to Irregular play.

At this point I think my question is how do you deal with (if you want to) playing regularly daily?

I agree you start calling everything and just spewing (I did this last week) Have played 2 games in the last 3 or 4 days and one was a forum game I was scheduled to play.

I am a nit so I usally care what happens to my buy-in and I will admit that it hampers my play sometimes, I think I need to strike a balance between playing solid poker and playing as if the losing the buy-in doesnt matter if the play is the right one.

Just read your reply, last month I made silver star played over 100 sngs in a week for the month and made a nice little profit for the stakes I play, this month I could count on one hand the amount of sngs I have played. Granted this is because I have been attempting to get into SCOOP games but I wil not make silver this month and I dont really care about that to be honest. Sometimes I think you can play too many games and it becomes less fun more work, the beats hit harder its easier to tilt etc. I like the idea of having a goal of games to play when you start and after you played them if you feel good and want more do so.

Determining a proper bankroll for myself is bugging me.

I read a lot of posts. A lot of Poker Orifice Posts come to mind.

In the end I'm stuck between proper limits for what I have online and what I can reload using side money but not money needed for mortgage payments

I run my account up to $1000. Do I care if I lose $200 taking shots if I can reload $200?

I'm not a great player. I think I'm decent. I think I'm overdue for a big hit and recently started taking chances on bigger tourneys (FTOPS) etc. Since you have no chance of big gains if you don't put up bigger risks.

Anyways, after many years of online poker yeah I'm feeling kind of lost.

Well, this is easy since I know you. ;)

You do well at cash when there are bonuses.

You start losing after you max out the cash and get bored.

Stick to SNG's and MTT's. Don't buy in to either of those for more than 5% of your online money.

IMO you are way better at MTT's and SNG's.

Ok well let me just say poker owes you nothing so your not overdue for anything, not trying to be an arse but you should get out of that mindset.

You play sngs so I would personally get enough for 100 buyins (I play 18 mans and am a nit) so I would play 10 dollar games and if your winning constantly at that level it wont take long to reach the 15s or 20s if you put in some volume and beat the level. I am not saying that the micros are harder to play but in theory once you hit tens your ROI should decrease but your risking more to win more so if you can go through the levels beating each one you are doing fine in my eyes. Saying that in practice its not so easy but I bet many people on this very forum would love a 1k BR.

I think you need to decide what you want from poker,if your looking too make a lot of money it takes dedication the will to study your game and what it takes to beat the levels. If you want to take shots fine but trust me from experiance I will tell you that usally leads to bustoville.

Also I took a shot at a few scoops but sattied into them but taking a shot with 20% of your roll is not the best idea.

For fun I'll toss this in the mix too.

If you want use part of your online winnings for offline pay how do you keep from feeling like everyone else at the table can read every move you make since you're not behind a clicky mouse and stats on a screen?

I have many of the same feelings you have. I think the best way to explain it is that we are not grinders. I'm not interested in turning $5 into $20 in one day, then try and do that for 21 out of 27 days to show a profit. I like $100 buy-ins because it helps me focus and if I run deep it feels worth it. I don't have thousands in my acct., so it's wrong BRM, but it's the way I want to play.

You just have to be honest with yourself and look for what you want out of poker, and then be comfortable with that decision.

Do you think we can grab our hair and yell "FOLD, FOLD, FOLD" in a live game? I'm not sure about playing in my underware will go over well either.:p

Good luck with your game. I've had the same issues and the best advice has already been given, TAKE A BREAK. Trust me, the poker games will still be there when you get back.
