I was playing at the casino in a 40$ buy in I had played in the same one earlier in the day and cashed for 132$ and made the ft out of 110 people I finished 9th. In the second tournament i had a pretty good stack the blinds were 699-1200 with 200 ANTE WHEN I STARTED THE HAND i had about 19000 left there was 22 players left. utg folds ugt2 calls fold im in middle position With pocekt qq i decided too raise too 6800 total cutoff folds button folds the small i after taking sometime decides too call The flop goes 8-9-a he decides too put me all in and i decided too call he flips over aj I couldnt get a q onj the turn or the river so i got taken out my question is should i have went all in pre flop with qq.

Yes, you should have gone all in but he might have called anyway. I had the same thing happen to me yesterday on a final table. I had like 3500 chips and raised to 1100 with QQ and got a call by AJs. Flop came up A,J, 4 and I bet anyway being short stacked now, and no queen hit. It's not unusual to get a call with AJ but you have a much better chance of taking it down pre flop with an all in bet, if that is what you want...

He may have called your all in preflop anyways, who knows. Definitely a better play to try to get it in preflop though on the chance that he might fold it.

Side note, earlier, i laid down AJ to QQ. I flopped AJ.... But guy got runner runner straight against others in the hand lol

If you all-in preflop, probably he will call too...

Actually you really need to evaluate your QQ when the an A shows on the board. He called your raise, so there is a high probability he has got an A in his hand. I would not call his bet on the flop.

You've only got a around 15bb's with a limper in front and 3 behind you. Shove preflop.
As played fold and save yourself 10bb's and wait for a better spot.

+1 the ace on the flop would of been an easy fold, unless you h ab e some history of him as a bluffer.

I actually like the size of the raise here. If he's calling here, then he's likely to call a shove here as well. I think it would have been a bad call and he would have been lucky to catch the Ace there. A-J is not the type of hand someone should be calling off all their chips with pre, unless they have a reason to believe their oponent is shoving light. But that doesn't stop them from doing it repeatedly, so there is really no telling. As it played out, you probably should have folded to his shove on the flop, as painful as it may have been. You have to give him credit for an Ace there, even if it's Ace rag. Kick, scream, curse. But fold.

well since your initial preflop raise of 6800 kinda had you commited to your hand, its really hard to lay it down after the flop. IF you had raised to something like 3200 or so,i think you could then decide to let it go but the way the hand played its kinda hard not shove even with the ace out there. TOUGH situtaion. i like the preflop shove the most.

Hi. I think you should have raised all-in pre. As others have said with a caller and a all-in raise it may have caused him to fold, but probably not. It may have been better to flat call as well and move from there. If he had raised, I think probably a min raise, you could have called dependant on how the first limper re-acted. The thing to remember is that it is okay to fold QQ sometimes.

Good luck in the future...........:)

I probably would have shoved all in pre-flop well, I do that or fold to his all in on the flop. I just had the situation last night but I had pocket kings and had about 20 bb. I was on the button, one limper in front of me, raised five BB pre-flop, board comes with an ace and all the same suit. Limper raises 1/2 his stack which would put me all in. After considering, I did fold. In my opinion, better to make a small mistake by not calling if he did not have an ace or flush, then take a big mistake by calling with all my chips and then being out of the tournament.
