Self explanatory title i guess but just wondering what people think the ideal calling range should be vs players who just do nothing but shove?

Now early on I'd find it pretty easy enough to just sit back and wait for a typical minster but it's in the middle stages of a game where just one bad fold/call vs these maniacs can really ruin your game and so I'd like to set up an optimal range vs these players.

Thanks in advance for any replies :D

hard to say, I have similar problems.

Generally I like pocket pairs and Ax, though i have at times been murdered by it. This assumes they are literally shoving everything. Also be very very careful about how many people left after you act. You might have a great range for the shover, but if another player comes in it likely means trouble.

My range is a guestimate, I am sure somebody else has better.

It definitely depends on stack sizes and if you are in the pot for any money already. The lower their stack size, the wider their shoving range is. I usually will call these down with Ax, some Kings, and pocket pairs. That is as long as I have enough to cover.

If you give stack sizes and some stats of how often they are open shoving it becomes easier. Same applies for if they 3B shove vs us a lot.

For example; if there is someone realllllllly aggressive who constantly open shoves or 3B shoves our opens and say effective stack size is 30-40bb, I'm happy calling of with hands like AJ/AQ..sometimes AT sometimes wider and hands like 66+.

It really does depend though on stack sizes and the situation and the stage of the tournament. If you give a hand history example it would be easier.

I like those guys because they can present you pile of chips. Just wait for a good hand and call if you sit behind or limp then call they all-ins. Most of times you're the winner

I think in the middle stage, youre not desperate enough to act.

Just wait for a good hand like pairs, Ax, etc with the maniac alone.

In the long run, you win.

for me it depends on the stage of the tourney---early rounds i tend to call very wide; in the later stages i tighten up

You're playing tournament poker completely backwards.

I agree with horizon12, but you have to raise it back until the river if you want to make the hand worth it, most of the time you will win the hand against a fish if you play the hands that he said.

Choose the right opponent.
This rule should be your first stop. It must first decide whether we play 3-bet bluffing or not. After all, we do not have too much to choose an opponent when we are planning to make a 3-bet for value because we just expect that at least someone calls us with a worse hand. But everything happens bluff completely differently.

In this situation, we need to be very careful, because we need someone who can throw their cards - because that's the essence of the bluff! But many somehow overlooked this point of view. Sometimes it can be a decision based on pride or anger when the player 3-bets someone who is unlikely to throw off his hand, but that such an approach will not bring any positive results in the long run. Always choose someone who can throw!

the calling range depends on ur chip stack of course, are they just shoving every hand and new to the table, how many left after u act.....gotta take in consideration how the table was playing before you got there.......for me if that is happening and they get called by someone i consider TAG then im only coming in with JJ QQ KK AA or AK.....but if its my BB and e1 else folded and they doing this then i may come in QK suited AT suited or better and pp7s or better to increase my chance if they have A rag then only 1 over card to my pp and if i hit the Q or K then im 9-1 fav giving it dont cripple me if i got big stack
