This hand is nasty. Be forewarned.

Playing on BetOnline, 22 left of 97, 8 pay, .20c free addon with $20 gtd, prize pool is at $35.80 thanks to weekend. Blinds are 1k and 2k. I don't play on this site too often, let me start by saying that. Entered this tourney with promo bucks, and didn't rebuy.

I'm BB with AKos. Everyone folds to button, who I'm unfamiliar with, but had been playing semi-aggro to aggro since I've been at table with villain. Mind you, I have a 30k stack against his 32k stack, both of us sitting top 5 at start of hand. He runs his timer about 10 seconds and shoves AI. SB thinks and folds his 9k stack. I think for about 3 seconds, decide button steal overbet, and essentially insta-call off my stack.

He flips KK. To keep this short enough for interest, I flop, and proceed to turn, 2 of the 3 aces, and scoop the 61k pot, obviously propelling me to lead, and him to less than a BB.

My questions are:
A) How often is he holding AA or KK here? (for the math whiz's)

B) How often am I putting him on one of those considering how he's played?

C) Regardless of the above 2 questions, is my call still loose? (Considering chip stack, blinds, etc.)

Thanks for any input. I have a feeling I'm getting reamed for this one...

Well, I suppose I got mine.

Button raise with 77 to 15,775 at 3k and 6k blinds, 6 handed, 11 total left. BB wakes up with AK but calls off 7k more AI. Rivers A.

As hand finishes, final table is made at this table, minus 1, as 2 knocked out at other table. 10 handed tables on BOL btw. I still have about 30k.

Eventually get to SB hand, have AK, now at 4k 8k blinds, and after folding BB to a raise, have 22k total with 4k in. 3rd to act pushes for less than BB, after UTG limp. CO reraises AI for 18k, I insta jam, and BB and UTG limper fold. (UTG limper has 8k in pot, with 120k behind, unsure why he doesn't play here, can bust 3, but not too relevant.)

Less than BB pusher holds 9T off, CO holds AT, and I, again, have the AK and am feelin' good. Get my chips back, right? Unh-uh. Flop hits the T, turn is A, river is blank. I'm now down to 4k, still 9-handed, 8 paid, and ready to blow!

Well, the rest is not important, but I manage to hang on to get 8th, and avoid the bubble. Bittersweet, to say the least. But, again, I suppose I got mine.

VERY RARELY!
In a higher buyin where players are balancing their ranges (& 16bb stacks aren't sitting in top 20% of the field) you can expect to see players open-shove in this spot ... on those stacks. In micro, low buyins, almost never!
B) How often am I putting him on one of those considering how he's played?
Almost never!
C) Regardless of the above 2 questions, is my call still loose? (Considering chip stack, blinds, etc.)
No!

I'm never folding this no matter what villain does here.

when blinds are very high & many stacks are very short.... anything can happen.

I'm never folding this no matter what villain does here.

That's precisely how I feel/felt. I know by how quickly I acted it doesn't seem I thought it through too much, but I felt that's a pretty easy call there, requiring not much thought.

LOL, I knew the Very rarely and Almost Never answers, just wanted to know actual numbers for that. :p

You make a good point about the micros vs higher stake games, and I agree. That being said, in a bigger BI game, is it a far worse call most of the time? I mean, it's still a top 3-4 hand, and he has to have AA for me to be done, KK sucks, but I'm still live.

If I read it right you were down to 15 BBs left, easy shove/call with AK. Imho i'm never folding AK vs anyone but the nittiest of nits then only if I have a ton of chips and its for most of em.
