Tighten up my play towards the end..

For the most part I always make deep runs in mtt's by playing aggressively, etc. Then it seems when it's down to the wire I just get smashed!!! Should I tighten all the way up and only play premium hands?

I think a good ratio would be that the bigger the average stacksize relative to the blinds is and the more people are at the table the more you should tighten up.
such that a full table with 100bb you should play tighter than a shorthanded (6-7 people.) with average stack of 15bb.

This also has to do with your stack relative to the rest of the table don't forget, 40 vpip with a super stack if done correctly is correct

Some stuff to keep in mind in late stage play while on a bigstack is >> the size of the stacks of the players to your left (or the ones still to act).
Keep in mind that if you're raising to steal you will be priced in to call smaller stacks if &/or when they ship it allin vs. you (so in that scenario you'd want to tighten up your starting hand requirements).
Analyze stack sizes in relation to the blinds... look to see who's sitting on good resteal-sized stacks & know who's likely to ship it) with them if you open pre.
You're better off going after the medium-sized stacks while on a bigstack (many believe that its the shortstacks you're aiming to go after... I disagree)... the SS's will be in desperation mode & are likely to get it allin pre vs. you... and the med. sized stacks are more apt to tighten up to your preflop raises as long as there are shortstacks on the table (generally speaking of course.... this is all player read dependent as well... ie. good med.sized stack players will actually put pressure back on the bigstack, knowing that the bigstack won't want to lose a chunk of their stack to them... because then they won't be able to continue to take advantage of the table with their bigger stack in the same manner).

you have to think about who else is still in the game, at the begining you'll find alot of the loose players which allow you to play some hands a tight players normally wouldnt and maybe hit something, however at the end you'll find more tight players which in order to beat them you will have to play pretty tight yourself, however when playing with all tight players can always try n pick off the blinds and build up decent stack that way

I think you play more loose when you get that far, because when you get to the end, you should assume the players are better. If you are always playing premium hands, you will be very easy to read and won't be paid off.
