I keep going up and down and most of the time its not because of my mistakes. for instance I go all in on the bubble with kk and my opponent calls with jj and gets a j on the turn, wtf. so I have been thinking that maybe I'm just making bad moves here and there. Are sngs really a good thing to devote myself to or am I better off spending my time on the cash games? https://www.cardschat.com/cash-games-tournaments-sngs.php this article says sngs are dead, any thoughts on that?

I just stated playing SNG's and they are working really well for me. There is a correct way to play the structure that really helped me. you have to play very tight at the beginning of the tournament then open up a bit when a couple people have been knocked out. how many tournaments have you played? there is variance so maybe you are just in a rough patch. you do have to take some 60-40, 50-50 risks with like 4-6 people left to give yourself a decent stack to take down the whole tourney.

sng's are better for some while cash games are better for others...try both but i'd stick to one after you have tried out each

^^^^^^^^^^^^What PattyR said.
And more info please. "KK vs JJ" doesent say anything about position, stacks, and so on. If you were mid stack size on bubble and one big stack and 2 small stacks, your KK may need to be played different, depending on position and action to you, then if YOU were small or large stack. And it all depends. On so many things. Post some hand histories.

The kk vs jj was just an example, I do so well in sngs but I seem to mess up around the bubble.

Maybe I should do 9 person sngs, instead of the 27 person sngs?
