When I play tournament with HUD program(Pokertracker, Holdem manager, Fpdb.. etc..) I feel that information of opponent - precisely, number of tracked hands- is too little. especially when you play on Turbo MTT tournament, Tables and opponents change rapidly. Besides, even if I play regular speed tournament, specimen of opponent's hand is not enough I think (mostly 20~40 hands, sometimes 50~60 hands).

I wonder how much tracked hands is required to believe HUD stats.

justified when you play multiple tables. Statistics will help you, no statistic you do not have time to watch all the players. important analysis of your game. thanks to the statistics you can analyze your mistakes at different stages:angel:

Some of the data is not going to be reliable, though. Most poker tracking software don't take into account the hands that a player is sitting out, for instance, so his VPIP may appear lower than it actually is.

Dynamics in a tournament change, and so do people's ranges and ways of playing. I don't think a HUD is going to be anywhere near as reliable for tournaments as it is for cash games.

Unless someone can prove me wrong, of course.

Actually, I don't look opponent unless it's final table or bubble. And I depend on HUD... this is current my playstyle...

If the HUD could split the information depending on which phase of the tourney u're playing (like, early stages, mid stages, bubble, itm and FT) it would be a lot more reliable imo, since ppl change the styles during the tourney (is there some tracker that do that?)

I like using it to concentrate where to look. Like, if u see someone with 60% VPIP, let's see some of the showdown cards of this guy, the range he is playing must be huge.
Then I usually do notes on the player. It really helps me to focus on where to look.

And for the number of hands to be reliable, i would say that with 50+ hands u're starting to have a solid stat representation.

seems like only if your playing multiple tables at one time it would make sense to follow the hud, cause as others have said you cant possibly watch and track all that action yourself and it just helps you make a decision. it shouldn't be blindy trusted either imo

This would also reduce the number of hands (sample size).
In PT4 you can go to HUD Options and filter by stack size and has other options,

IF you want get into the final table, you need the HUD. What if guy from your first table also get into the final? So you will had info on him.
As for me better HUD stats are VPIP and Fold to Cbet in MTT

yes, this will, but final table stats hardly says something about how the guy plays at the beginning

didn't knew about that PT4 feature. I still don't have money to buy it or HM2 :)

Yes, a small amount of info can be a bit deceiving, but any info is worth taking into account. For mtts where you are constantly switching tables and don't play long with any one player, I would take the stats with a grain of salt. However, an HUD is great for being able to analyze your own play and figure out leaks you can fix to strengthen your game.

Statistics can be very helpfull. Honestly, I prefer to use pokertracker when I'm at the final table of any MTT or SnG, and cash table
