What are the most important stats and why to have displayed in my opponents HUD while I'm playing SNGs?

The 3 most important stats are VPIP%, PFR%, and AF. The first number tells you how many hands the person plays. The second number tells you how often they raise. The third number is a composite score of how often they raise or bet vs. how often they flat call (checks and folds are irrelevant). These 3 are a must. I would also include Steal/fold to steal numbers, as well as the # of hands you have with the person (so you can gauge how accurate your numbers on a person are). Some people include everything, but I feel these are the most important.

Thanks! What are high and low numbers for these stats?

It all depends on your playing style. Generally, the more tight-aggressive you play, the more success you tend to have. This means that the closer your VPIP% and PFR% are, the better. Mine are 18 and 15 respectively (after about 90,000 hands). My AF is 3.4, which is very high. What this means is that I don't play many hands, and when I do, I play it aggressively. I have had good success with this. I've made about $1,500 casually playing the $6.50 turbos.

With that said, it is not the only way to play. I have seen guys tear it up with a VPIP% as low as 9%, and as high as 25%. The guys that are around 9% are generally playing many tables at once. If guys are playing more than 30% at a given table, they are either getting great hands, or they are donks. >30% in the long run is a losing style, unless you know something about poker that I don't ;)

I hope this helps. These are only general guidelines. There are guys with numbers just like me that have lost money, and vice versa.

Sit&go wizard is not a program you use during play. It is a program that helps you analyze your push/fold decisions according to the ICM (Independent Chip Model). If you don't know what ICM is, you should google it. It is too complicated for me to explain at the moment, but it is probably the most important tool in sit&go play.

What you want to look into is a program such as tournament indicator, which is what I have. There are others, but none that I can think of at the moment. TI will provide you with the statistical analysis I have described in my other posts. If you want to become a serious player, it is a must (sng wizard is pretty important too).

Generally agree with what you note here Zack but the point I add is that if you're playing SNG's then your VPIP will vary according to the stage of the SNG. In short you should open up as the SNG progresses so your VPIP will be low in the early stages whilst if you're HU it will be sky high.

Zack - are the numbers you quote your average VPIP's and also are they your numbers on tourneys / SNG's?

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Your numbers definitely want to become gradually looser throughout a sit&go. During the first few blind levels (Green M zone, for those who are familiar with that scale), You hardly want to be playing anything at all. My VPIP% is 8, and my PFR is 7%, so I'm only playing premium hands. As you progress, you want to be playing very aggressively. When the blinds are very high, my numbers are more like 30/26%, or even higher if it becomes desperation time.

To answer your question, my numbers are purely from playing turbo sit&go's on pokerstars. They would indeed look a bit different if I played regular speed, or if I played MTT's (Multi-table tournaments) but I just don't. I'm strictly a single table sit&go player. They are lower variance, higher volume, and I'm just better at them.

Hoped this is helping aspiring poker players that are reading this.:D
