re: Poker & How should i have played this hand
The 3.2xBB open is big ( reeks of weak player ) and considering your stack his open doesn't leave you with a lot of options. When you raise in that spot you are always raising to get a fold or call a shove. You are never getting a call, maybe only if your preflop and postflop sizing are good and small plus there is some crazy history and table dynamic that gives you space for outplay or you are just up against a premium pair that doesn't wanna lose action.
So yes, calling in position is not bad. JJK board is really dry, when he checks it's really hard for you to get value from weaker hands, maybe he can call one street. Your move was nice, because even tho most of the time you have a better hand by checking you are hiding your hand while also keeping an allready bloated pot small in case you are beat.
And the turn play is where you make the fatal mistake, when the 8 hits and he checks again most of the time that means that the villain is holding a marginal hand and wants a cheap showdown or he missed the board completely. So yes you can bet, but don't bet 50%, you can bet smaller for value and while bluffing
there. But 2 checks then a checkraise in that spot means you are beat almost allways especially with that sizing. This was my advice based on some general information and the assumption you are all playing solid without any specific villain or table history.
