Hi I won 150k MTT entry worth 200$ from freeroll. Currently I would to know any advices for playing first deep stack 10k with 15min blinds (party poker). I dont fell like I ready this week since I dont want bust out from being to lazy and making stupid decisions. Please tell how you prepare for long MTT and if you read any books before it etc. Thanks

Frank throw garbage, and sometimes 3 bet.
With good hands 3 bet or limp rarely less than 10 pairs.
It is important that you need to be calm, have a good sleep and good luck!

Its short notice to prepare for this tournament.

You did ask about reading a book though... so I would suggest reading the book 'Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time, Vol.1'

I think it will help.

Congrats on the ticket win ! :D
These are some of my own rules I try to follow for MTTs:
Dont make the mistake of playing too loose at the start & take note of those who are!
Always get up and move around for your breaks, that FT is 6 +hours away so keep yourself alert
Watch & take notes on opps very carefully ie tight, agg, call station, these will be very important later.
Keep an eye on the button, play IP & take notice of the players who dont (if any)
Also I find at these higher buy ins half pot bets usually dont work to steal, so I would go for 3/4 pot bets .
Best of luck with the game :)

If this is your first time playing a buyin of that size the best thing I can stress to you is to just be patient. That doesn't mean just play incredibly tight and just play really good hands, but I would try and not get involved in big pots preflop if your not holding a really good hand. With a starting stack of 10,000 chips and 15 minute blinds you'll have plenty of time to sit back and wait. Even at a buyin of $200 your going to see many people making mistakes that you can capitalize on. I think your best bet is to be a little cautious at first until you get a better grasp of the rest of your players at the table and how there playing. Once you see how other players are playing you can adjust and see what works best for you.

Here's the old PS. school handbook which was shared among the old regulars, maybe it will help.
Patience, patience, and more patience.
Eat before you sit down.
Drink fluids but not alcohol.
Play only group 1 hands in the early stages and be prepared to fold QQ,JJ,and TT to any all in.
You should mostly watch what your opponents are playing in the early stages.
Dont worry about your tight table image in the early stages as this will change later.
In the middle stages of the tourney you will still play tight but take advantage of position and steal some blinds (play your group 1 hands very aggressively at this point.
Nearing the bubble you will loosen up and take advantage of the short stacks.
You are now trying to chip up for the FT.
If you make it to the FT with a big stack you will expand your hand range to include all pairs, A rag, and suited connectors....you will now try to win the tourney outright with aggressive play including over bets, Cbets, 3bets, and bluffs.
If you enter the FT with a short stack you will play push or fold.
Like any MTT your chance of winning will be slim to none, but these strategies should help you go deep.
Good luck.

Just be calm and relax.

Eat healthy and do some exercising in the days leading up to the tourney.

Don't count on some win if you are playing for the first time on that tournament level. Regulars will eat you. So relax, play tight, wait aces or kings, because structure doesn't make you to shove the garbage as in superturbo. Enjoy the game and be glad that you at least earn many points by this.

hi
the biggest difference in deep stack tournaments is the often 3bets
also very important is to switch your game depending on your opponents stack
good luck with this tourney

In deepstack games a lot more poker is played post flop. Every time you get involved in a pot have a plan and watch the other players.

Patience and observation are going to be your best allies. Take your time and pick your spots against certain opponents, Dont get lazy and not pay attention to the players on the table, everything and every bet they make is going to give you some more information as to how they are playing and may pay off well later when you have a made hand or need to make a bluff against them. Look for your spots and try to get in early with some looser hands when you have plenty of chips left behind. you can play hands like suited connectors or low pocket pairs trying to hit some sets. Later in the tournament when the blinds get higher you are going to have to tighten up your hand range and look to get into isolation against some weaker players. be patient as these blind levels will give you plenty of time to manipulate your chip stack and get in good spots. Dont get discouraged if you lose a few hands just keep your stack up and look for spots to steal blinds later in the tournament and look to get in a race if you get really low in chips. Be patient as you can be, but not too patient, you are going to want to play some hands early in the tournament to try and get your stack up becasue you wont be able to later. Play as much as you can against players that are doing the same thing consistantly and playing solid poker, it will give you the best chance to know where you are in the hand and best chance to win against them. Good luck

I was always told not to play hungry, tired, or depressed. If you do in a long MTT you will not be able to fix something to eat, unless you have someone to fix it for you, which I don't. Then if you are already tired, you are not going to play your best for 4 or 5 hours. Then being depressed is going to make you not care one way or another. I been there on all three and I just can't play my game, and I will lose every time. GL

Go to your local book store and check out some books there. Try to find this book "Phil Gordons little green book". that book is not too large and really easy to understand. Just skim through the book and find any answers you are looking for. You could also go to your casino and pick up some free poker magz and read the strategy section. You could also register for tournament poker edge for 30/month. Tons to learn there as well.

If you want not only cash it but win - you should sleep ( I've already written it before). You have to get everything out and to use your mind as a machine. Just feel good and be ready, that a lot of players will use limping.

Good Luck!
