i am continuing to lose on pokerstars. the bankroll that i deposited a couple of weeks ago is substantially down. i have had the occassional tilt, but nothing too huge, not been playing ridiculous size buy ins for mtt's or whatever either. i started off at just over 500, i soon dropped below and stayed around this mark for over a week, i felt it very hard to get back to positive. then last night i had a disaster, ended up something like 20 tabling and losing like a 1/4 of my br through robotic play and very bad decision making (and too many tables.)
i then played some sng's and a couple of mtt's that night after cooling off and went slightly up, maybe $10 or so, but it is very hard to be positive when you have just lost 10x that.
then today i started off again playing sng's and broke even- winning 2 of the $3.50 9 man sng's out of about 4 i played, i also played the $1.50 ones and both stakes of 50/50.
i then wanted to try something new and ended up playing the cap 0.25/0.50, within my br as you only actually take $10 to the table. i started off being up like $20, then checked my balance just over an hour later and i was actually down like 3 or 4 buy ins AGAIN. i was 8 tabling, which is not a lot at all.
near the end of that session it crossed my mind that because we were only playing 20bb's- it would cost $0.75 each orbit times that by 8 tables which is like $6.00 roughly. so basically for around every ten mins unless i stole the blinds ATLEAST once an orbit i was going to be losing. i dunnoo if this is a stupid thought but it was in my thoughts at the end of the session.
anyway, basically i am playing sng's/ cash/ cap/ plo/ mtt's you name it. before i was just playing mtt's, but after losing my last roll that i managed to build up through playing them, my confidence is not as great at them any longer.
i am burning through my new role AGAIN, i think i am kind of playing a bit of scared poker, because when i am playing live i don't care about losing 1 or 2 buy ins and i am still playing profitbaly there, have done for a good bit now. but online i am losingggggggggggg. help haha

Maybe you should try focusing on 1game instead of MTT'ng and find which game you are consistently beating and add 1table at a time until you find out how many you should play before your winrate goes down substantially.

IMO you are trying to rush big figure paydays. Slow down step back and analyze your game, not everyone can be a Chris Moneymaker ;)

20 tabling? Could be the reason you are not living up to your expectations. You certainly are not taking the time to think about what you are doing and have no time to learn the other players that way. I agree that one table is boring, but 20 is absurd

I've been on a rut too but nothing like this, I can't imagine that many tables at once.

I agree with this. this morning i was just 3 tabling at intertops, (most tables i could play due to traffic) and gained almost 4BI's within 300 hands. take a step back, look at your opponents, and take a little time to make a decision. I know 15 tabling you only have at the most 5 seconds to make a big decision. so play less tables and focus on your opponents.

yeah as i said the 20 tabling was stupid i comfortably 12 and can do 14 but anything more i don't play that great. lean i only tried this once it was the reason for a part of the loss but not the majority. and sick beatz you are being very true that is what i am doing i am just finding it hard to choose one game and also when i am losing just now aswell it doesn't help. cheers too twizti, i wouldn't recommend it i ended up going all in on the turn from a starting stack ob 100 bb's with just A A on K 10 x, Q board when he turned the straight. awful play haha

stop multitabling, play one or two games, and learn to make better decisions

Two points you mention here may be pertinent :

"I think I am playing a bit of scared poker" Scared poker is losing poker almost all the time.

Playing 20 tables just makes the scared play bleed you at an exponentially greater rate.

Do what is needed to become the confident live player you already are , quit playing more tables than you can comfortably handle.

Just my 2 cents worth , hope it helps.

There is really no justification for saying that you are comfortable with this if you are losing. Multi-tabling is a way for profitable winning players to increase winnings. If you are losing even a little, Multi-tabling will simply increase your losses.
There is also normally a trade off in expectation per table, doubling the number of tables for a winning player may increase overall profit but not by double! You are winning live when you are playing one table and watching your opponents, do this online too until you are regularly profitable. This must be your first goal.

wanted to try something new and ended up playing the cap 0.25/0.50, within my br as you only actually take $10 to the table. .....we were only playing 20bb's-....
Some people can play these short stack games profitably but they require a very different strategy and come with higher variance.
Most here, I think, would not recommend them. Stick to 100BB buy-ins, take your time, play solid poker, get profitable!

Good Luck

i probably try to play and master on game!

u know, cash, MTT, SNG are like apples and oranges...even they are all NL HE....

so....looks like you may use the incorrect strategy in different field....

thanks for all the replies, i think i actually play better one or two tabling as it allows me to concentrate and i just got HM2 yesterday aswell. until i start making a profit again i am going to play 1 or 2 tables in order to limit the losses and concentrate on my game. ty

Imho play 1 game at a time and forget trying something new. Also, if you use proper bankroll management you wont be as likely to play scared. Maybe take a look at your style of play. Do you call/fold a lot? Do you overplay the 2nd best hand often? I play mtts mostly and the failure rate there is quite high. Maybe try something like not playing based on how many chips you have but how many big blinds you have. I usually will really loosen up if i get down to 20 BBs but thats just me, find what works for you. Good luck.

I think it helps when I take a break from playing poker, especialy if I've been running bad. When your running bad your not gonna be playing @ your best.Your confidence goes down, you start to chase with cards that you know you shouldn't.You play scared poker afraid to lose more money.Your patience is shortened & your not bringing your A game to the table.Relax take a break concentrate on 1 table instead of multi tables.Take time off from poker and read a book ,watch training videos ,try to find out whats going on with your game play.Hope you the best on the tables.

thankyou nookman and playinbig that is good advice today i lost 3 times with A A in like an hour. but it is definetely not just variance there is obviousely a good number of leaks in my game just now. tricky knowing where to go as i could re-deposit but i withdrew some of my remaining br because i knew i was going to lose it. i love playing mtt's but atm i am just not playing anywhere near profitably to continue. for example last night i was doing well in an $8.80 500cap tourny, was in like 1st then 2nd for a decent bit when itm, first place was $700 or so, so if i push on and win then that is me up overall but i end up coming 22nd and only $30 it is stuff like that i just come short of the big money. also in the micro the other week i was doing well then i came like 71st or something losing A K v Q Q and 1st prize is around $4k and i get like $60 or whatever. very frustrating though as i said i really want to continue but can't really afford to keep losing.
