Personally I can play 6 MTT tables and still maintain my A game. But more than that and I start making costly mistakes.

If I'm near the bubble or the final table then maybe 3 or 4 tables would be max for me.

So how many MTT's do you open at a time and do you have tips for maintaining your A game while multi-tabling?

Tourneys I have to be a little more careful. I would run 8-10 of them and try not to replenish until I'm deep in only a couple. Once I'm deep I need to concentrate a little harder.

For limit though, I find that 4tabling is by far best. Just too many decisions to make to use more (I think 6 was the most I was ever comfortable with in FL)

the players who play mtt mainly play a ton, its high variance if you run bad though i guess :) so if you aren't capable of playing your best while having tons of screens popping up don't do it, i think i can play 8 max before i start playing a fixed style instead of being able to adjust and notice all of the things other players are doing, and at 8 im barely able to at that

I prefer playing 2-4 MTT's at once. With the choices lately its hard to even get that loading besides sundays

I play between 3 and 5 tables at the same time. I know its not much, but it seems that I get distracted if I play on more tables. Sometimes when I get carried away I think for the hand on one table and bet on the other table - it is not funny when you bet on a trash hand thinking you got high pair there and check on the pair

For me it depends on many things, sleep being right up there.
If I'm mixing my games, Plo, Plo8, Nlhe, turbo, 6max or full etc 4 is the limit.

I honestly believe my real A game (needed for Ivey) can only be on one table but that doesn't stop us trying does it?

I feel like if im playing more than 3/4 tables im just clicking buttons going through the motions and really lose my instinctive feeling for the tables its just statistics and less focus on exploits just right/wrong plays,

I would argue that an A game can be different things depending on the level and style of the game

I think I play my best when I'm playing 5-10 tables. In fact, I need 5 minimum usually just to keep myself disciplined playing solid.

I normally stick with 4 tables at most If I'm multitabling at all.

I play usually 1 -2 tables. More than 1-2, I also start making mistakes. Something is wrong. I can't focus on action. I play like a robot. I don't read my opponents too good, like if I would play one or two tables. I wonder how people can play 3, 4 and more tables, it is hard for me. My tip is nothing special, but I heard that the best idea is play at the beginning one table, when you are very good at one tables, you should start play 2 tables, when you are good on 2 tables, then you should play 3 etc. GL.

I feel that way too. If I play under 4 tables I start reading emails and doing other tasks causing me to make mistakes.

Sometimes at the end of a session, when I don't want to open another tournament, I'll just open a cash game to keep me busy.

I play only one, I find playing alot of them distracts me and takes away from my decision making and focus.

2-4 MTT's i dont even try to play more because it's easier to lose control over boards , and lose of concetration is quite possible. without concentration terrible thinks can happen on board :) Play smart , not greedy!

i think 6 tables is where i play my A game. because they all fit nicely on the one screen and there isn't usually constant beeping for having to play a hand. however, i often play around 14 tables if i like the look of a few tourny's. if i am playing/ running well i reckon i can still play a good B game at this point, however it's when i get a bad beat/ make a poor play or decision then sometimes it ends up affecting all of my tables. which is another reason it is better to play less tables. if i feel slight tilt i stop opening tables until this has subsided or just stop for the night if i feel it is not profitable playing in such a state of mind.
probably at my happiest grinding 14ish tables though because i like to be properly grinding and having more chances to win good money.

I have forced on 8 / 10 tournaments . And that sucks !
1. It's hard to focus on them one by one .
2. Affect your game style .
3. The chances to make more mistakes it's much bigger .
So if i have a idea for you , it's to keep it slow . Try 4,5,6 tables and i consider it's ok . Top 5 minimum required from 3 tables it's a good percent .

Good Luck !

I definitely can't stay focused with 1 table, but on top of my A game I like 3-4 tables seems when I do that I either cash in all or make at least 2 final tables. No robotic play and I can still make sick reads and its just enough to keep me focus on the task at hand 'Young Mula Baby'

12 was about my cap (there was so much I wanted to play on Sundays!), but by that point I had a B-Game. I would say 5-7 was ideal.

What's your vp/pfr when playing more than 10 tables? What are they if you are playing one table?

sorry man, haven't been on this for a while haha. i am not sure actually, i have holdem manager 2 but i stopped using it a couple of months ago when my laptop broke and i couldn't get it working again. so i don't use any software atm. got my best scores when i haven't been using it, so think i will just stick to not using any software bar checking opr daily.
going back to your original question i would say my pfr and vpip are definitely higher when i am playing one or two tables. you are usually able to benefit from the multi tablers usually playing tighter because of all their tables and the rec's being fairly poor players and thus a good source to accumulate chips from. when i am playing a lot of tables i still open light from lp and try to pick my spots with light 3 bets etc. but on the whole i probably play tighter. i don't mind playing either style like sometimes i will just play really tight when the table is crazy, and get ultimate respect for any pfr or 3 bet. which is nice. but on other occasions i will play crazy, and raise like 50% of hands if i am the big stack. here's a hand that unfortunately didn't work out- http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hands/Boom/4122980_AE4BB2F76F but i had a crazy image and prior managed to get a player to call oop with A Ko v me and then bluff away most of his stack on the river when we check both streets- i had K 10o and done a tiny 5 bet which looked very stron and flopped an open ender that i was fairly happy to see a free turn/ river with as the pot was so huge.
imo either style is effective depending on your table dynamic and how comfortable you feel playing them. probably gone off on a tangent to your question but hope this is fine haha.

I would have thought that multi tabling MTTs wasn't as important or as correct as multitabling cash games. I'd say I'm at my A game playing in just 1 but I don't think my play would be that much different playing 2-4 preferably I like to have either 2 or 3 going and if I start getting to higher blinds I wont open anymore.

Having said that I'm more or less a recreational player and I've only just started playing with the intention to profit and don't really have the bankroll to play MTTs so I wont be doing any until I build a roll.
