It's not. Sure a lot of pros make final tables, but it's usually NOT the same ones; especially in large-field events. Varience, bad beats, etc, etc all effect pros just as much as anyone else. What the good pros are really good at is controlling the things they can control and just sticking it out like the rest of us when dealing with things they can't control.

It really isnt...

If you look at bluff player of the Yr. rankings yr over yr it is extraordinary how much turnover there is.

Kinda sad and daunting if your goal is to be a live donkament pro bc im not sure virtually anyone below the top tier uber pro (Seidel, Ivey, Rettenmeir..) is truly ROI positive enough to incur taxes and traveling costs and all that and still maintain a good income for a long time.

It seems more like people are usually recycled through the scene for 3-4 yrs at a time then go busto and cant get a stake.

Although it does seem like pros are always making it to the final table, I'm not so sure it's always the same ones. I have seen a few pros have a couple of good showings over a short period, and then not heard anything about them for quite a while.

One reason I think pros tend to have deep runs on a more consistent basis is that they have less of a tendancy to want to get all their chips in the middle. Where amateur players pick up a big starting hand and are willing to ris their stacks pre-flop on two cards, most pros seem to avoid being all-in if they can help it.

Another reason I think so many pros frequently manage deep runs is that most amateur players have have a lot of respect for (fear of) them. I was playing an S&G one day when one of the other players mentioned seeing that I was registered for a $110K pro bounty tourney. That person's advice to me was to fold anytime a pro raised or 3-bet me. Dude, did you say scared? Not me! When moved to a table with Annette Obrestad and Melanie Wiesner, if I remember correctly (can't find my pro list right now), I wasted no time in showing them that I was willing to play right back at them. With me showing a complete lack of fear and a top ten chipstack, it didn't take them long to figure out, being pros and all, that they had to respect my shit.

Every player has dreams of being able to go up against the pros and hold their own. But given the opportunity they average player is going to shut down and get run over until they're in the position where they have to shove any big hand. Meanwhile the pros are making moves and building their stacks up. The game gets a lot easier when you're playing for all of the other guys chips, not all of your own.

They are professionals... they do take bad beats but when they do they lose minimum and gain maximum from when they are ahead.

I think you hit the nail on your head in your subject "pro"

Obviously pros are pros for a reason; they run good/play good and most importantly are profitable long term.

As for your statement, this is not true; they have as much luck/card distribution as the worse player in the world & best players in the world.

This is very true, along with the fact that "pros" run awesome.

probably because they have better understanding of position, bet's, and game than most of us, :)

I remember, few years ago, on FT I played against Chris Ferguson and won that hand and end up kicking him out of low lvl tourny we was playing on, my KK hold and we went all in, and I won.
Think that was in time he was playing that $10K challenge, and lower lvl tourny.

Am I better player than he, hell no, he is pro and I am recreational player :)

Also, saw few more pro's on some final table I played in past 8 years.

That's just my $.02

Bad beats are such a huge part of the game that the same pros can usually CASH but not necessarily make the final table. Players like hellmuth though seem to make it quite often, and if he runs well he will almost always cash because skill prevails over luck in this game

I think a lot of it is their Poker image "respect".It would be like setting down heads up with Phil Ivey. You know your gonna have to make good decisions in how you play against him.
