I think you have to be very careful because I've seen cheepleader knock down AA with any combination ... I've always said the theory that the system always favors the cheepleader of the tournament or the table, I could See most cases. Tell me what techniques you would use against a cheeleader, I put a golden rule that you have to apply against a cheepleader is not bluffing ... it's a very bad idea to bluff a cheepleader!!!

Your theory may have some validity and yes it it better to play tight against a chip leader and never bluff.

the problem is that the law of the strongest at the table prevails, but I think that you should not go ALLIN in a strong hand that you have. you just have to make a small RAISE to see the FLOP and also to have a bit of control in the play

Not bluffing is a really good technique, I have seen also what you said about AA,s against chipleaders, I think the best strategy you can have against a big stack at your table is being very patient and wait to be transfer to a different table (haha) and/or do not call all in preflop even with monster hands, wait the flop and if you have a great hand I think you are more able to win and get some good chips against any player ;)

I think a good tactic is to make a small RAISE so that you have control of the hand, and the next move to follow depends on the community cards, so do not let the cheeplealer take the initiative in any of the bets in the hand that is playing with you, try to have control of the hand

Don't try to steal their blinds or bluff them because they have the chips to call in the early stages. Raise bigger to get max value on your strong holdings for the same reason.

If you notice most of the early big chip leaders don't even cash or they get so tight near the bubble you can exploit that.

So avoid them early and exploit them late.

If you really think the 'system favors the chipleader' why do you play?

different strokes for different folks

If they are bullying the table, and you have a good hand in early position, then bet and call pre-flop and then check raise more than pot. Late position I'll often let them do all betting and just act like your drawing.

If they are playing tight. Then play tighter, and raise your bet sizing.

If you fear them, then they already won!

Yes, it is a bit dangerous to play against a chip leader, you have to be careful. But I like to play aggressively and with good cards.

When you are playing against a chip leader, first consider where he is sat relative to you. If he is sat to your right, acting before you, this can be good because in tournaments, chips tend to flow to the left. You get to choose what pots you want to play with the big stack giving you very good implied odds. Playing low pocket pairs go up in value because hitting a set is strong and disguised, so you can expect to get paid off or double up even. You want to be looking for more opportunities to trap.

When acting before the big stack, you need to be more selective with the hands you play. Try not to get sucked into marginal hands that have little/no outs to outdraw in case you get sucked into a big pot that you might not be able to get away from. Play more hands with stack sizes similar to yours or smaller, just be careful looking at the effective stack for each hand. Smaller stacks may be prone to shove at any time, so try to get involved when you can afford to take the chance to put somebody out of the game.

Play with caution. Pay attention to their betting patterns because you make for be able to tell what they have or if they are bluffing. Do not enter pots with the chip leader unless you have a really good hand

Certainly plat cautiously vs big stacks, but only because they can bust you.

Key to good poker is to play to yoir opponents weaknesses and tendencies.

excellent answer, I think you should avoid playing a hand with speculative cards against a chiplealer (speculative cards 10 Q - 10 J - K 10)

When I'm in a tournament and my table is the chip leader, I try to play safe hands and see as many flops as possible to double my chips. :)

Chee pleader

I do not believe CL is favored, the difference is that it goes into more hands, if it is to count in percentage the chance of him applying a bad is the same of him to take

Give him a chance to bluff you, traps & slowplay work well vs agressive chip leaders.

Get all possible information about how he's playing, if it is too aggressive wait to have good hands to play against him if he is choosing the best hands to play i think you has to play more carefull and dont give him free cards because the range of cards he is playing is large

A couple of things to consider first. If the chip leader is playing solid and only showing down good hands and you've got a big stack, its best to stay out of his way. If he's been splashing around a lot of pots stealing, 3 betting frequently, and throwing his weight around, and you've got a smaller than average stack, look to double through him with your less than premium hands, KJ off A9, and of course any pair 7 or higher.

And the system does favor the chip leader... Sometimes ;)
