How do you handle getting ko'd twice by opponents with 2 4

Twice in a row I have been raised all in by someone with 2 4 preflop and they catch two pair to knock me out of a tournament. I was low on chips and felt like I had to call with a hand like QJ or J10. Each time I caught top pair on the flop yet they sucked out the two pair. What is going through the big stack's mind playing 2 4 suited or not? Am I missing something or was it dumb luck? What is sick is that the second time the guy was getting virtual high fives from around the table like it was the greatest play they had seen.

Same thing that goes through peoples mind when making a call. Normal people look at the price (too make the call and/or how much they must invest)+ The odds they will get from making the said call.

Yet their is those that don't think about such things and don't wish to be bother'd by It.

I Just busted 2 tourneys one In 7th place (FT started at 6th) since It was a 6max event.

The other was a rebuy and I busted 20 something (I cashed), but deserved/wanted/needed more. Yet some big stack had a different thing in mind all together, what can you do, but GII good and hold over the long haul

Just try to forget about it.

Here's the odds from ProPokerTools. Against 24, QJ and JT are only a 67% favorite. There's still a good chance that you lose those hands when you go all-in preflop.

When you are short stacked, you have very little fold equity, so you will often get beat by random garbage because aggressive big stacks will call you down.

Large stacks have the advantage of calling with trash hands. Really try to forget about it. Everywhere and always there badbeat. Short stacked - little fold equity. Lost, not dwell on this and keep a new game.

it was just dumb luck. 24 is a terrible preflop hand with bad odds so losing twice against these hand is just bad luck however if you are shortstack try shoving all in preflop with a good hand like aq,aj a10 kq,any pair instead of calling because if you dont hit the flop you will be pot committed and folding after the flop is not profitable when you are shortstacked.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I was probably over thinking the situation. I could see some advanced read because many amateurs will play ace/king anything and if everyone folded there might be higher odds that 2,4 and other low cards to make a straight are still in the deck. I still would like to know what these big stack guys see as a threshold stack size to force an all in that they know will fold. They had to see something in my play or stack size that made them think I would just give up.

Although you were ahead preflop it wasn't by much but that doesn't take away the sting any, I know. Try not to let it get to you it is just variance or bad luck whatever you want to call it. In the end I have found you have to try to make the correct decision and not dwell on the outcome. In the long run if you play right you will win more of the time but no one wins all the time. Good hands lose and bad hands win sad but true. That's part of what we love and hate about the game. Good Luck!

remind yourself that you win that hand 9 out of 10 times, and that you want that call. When they get lucky, just forget about it and move on to the next tournament. Don't be results oriented, instead focus on the long run and making the optimal decisions each and every time. Do this and the wins will come.

Avoid coin flips.

Re-raise them preflop and make them pay for cards.

Beware of the larger stacks....and pick premium hands to move in with. The imortant thing is to be happy with any call you get when you move all in. If you're not asking for a raise or call don't push!
