I have a tilt problem. I will in most tournaments i play be able to get a large stack. But I will once the late reg ends spew my chips playing hands i shouldn't by bluffing because i didn't hit. I play bad hands too knowing my opponent has a better hand because of his stats. Now when i don't play this way which is only a few times i was able to keep myself under control i won. I play micro stakes and it frustrates me to see people play 72o and win with it or K3o or 93s they win with this stuff. I can never hit with that kind of a hand.
Now with all that said how can I teach myself to unlearn this and just play my game and not worry or concern myself with how these other player are playing. How do I teach myself to let this go and not get frustrated by other people getting lucky and just play my game that is a winning game when i am in control of my emotions and keep this in check. how do you unlearn this? How do i overcome this. If you have a similar story and you have overcome it and learnt how to change this please share how you have done it. thanks

For me - there is no easy way to deal with tilt. I think some people have a gift for it and can simply take a few deep breaths and let it go - while the rest of us have to build up calluses and thicker skin for the tough times ahead.

As unpleasant an analogy as it may be - biologically our feet are designed to do this. The rougher the surfaces we walk on daily - the tougher our heels and such become. What am I getting at? Well, I think this is one of those "wash, rinse, and repeat" kind of situations. We have to go through the motions, get accustomed to all of the bad moments the game may have in store for us - and over the course of time you just dont take it so personally anymore.

I think tilt solutions are tailor made - in a sense that not one size fits everyone. We are all very different in nature and as such do not always share the same qualities. There is a book called "the mental game of poker". Its written by a guy named Jarred Tendler (I believe) - it is a fantastic read and while it may not solve your tilt problems 100% - it can certainly put you on the right track! I hope this helps

Do not worry on that score! No players that can control the travel! In all, they have a bad effect! And this problem is not only the micro-limits. Recently, I played the qualifying tournament for $ 630 and I moved rigidly with 85 against my AK and I was very worried as any other player in my place! Therefore, understand that crossings will always be another one would not play poker!

I guess people have different definitions of, what tilt is. To me its getting frustrated and playing bad because of losing. What you describe sound more like a combination of boredom and FPS (fancy play syndrome). You know, you are supposed to fold, but instead you try to make things happen and lose your chips.

Tournaments can last a long time, and part of being a good tournament player is the ability to remain focused and concentrated during the whole event and to not get frustrated by periods, where you are card dead or miss all the flops. I dont have the answer for you, because this is really a mental thing and highly personal. But you should start by asking yourself, what it is, that makes you repeatedly do something, you know is not good poker?

It is very difficult to overcome, since we are not robots. We are people and we tend to get tired. I play, thanks to intuition ... In addition, sometimes 9 3 or 7 2 in the big blind and you have to play them. Without luck, it’s not possible to win a tournament. I recommend watching the game of professionals, they also often play garbage hands, if nothing good comes for a long time. The conclusion is that you need to play and have fun not necessarily rely on poker textbooks. I can throw out qq and play 29 I have a wide range of hands and focus on intuition, the situation at the table.

Hey Neo, getting a control on emotions is always a challenge, and like working out it's something we can improve steadily over time with a little bit of awareness and practice

Here is a vid I made which explains tilt and what causes it

And here is a video to help you never go on tilt again

A lot of people have had great results by doing the exercises

Hope you will as well so you never have to experience these bad feelings again!

Consider only a tilt

Please think a tilt comes certainly.

Please prepare for a tilt from play starting time.

I used to go on tilt big time after a bad loss, but eventually I realized that it wasn't doing me any favors. Now I make a point of not playing the next couple hands after I take a big loss just to avoid going on tilt.

On another note, maybe stop chasing cards and bluffing. I get that bluffing is a part of poker, but it also only takes you so far. Play a tighter more solid game and you might find that you don't take some many big hits that normally would put you on tilt.
