i absolutly love poker. right now i just play as a hobby. but the idea of playing poker as a job is very exciting to me. I rly like the idea of loving my job (being poker) is there any pros out there that could tell me how that got started. and what path they took to become a pro

Becoming a pro is coused by live earnings. Being a pro means you do poker for a living and got at least 1 mil$ won and/or a few FTs in wsop or EPT

There are plenty of professional poker players with less then one million in earnings. This is not a prerequisite.

You should take poker serious. Keep a good bankroll management, review your hands, put a certain amount of time in your game, discuss with other poker players how to play, keep believing in yourself, try to play some live tournaments, watch other pro's play

Alot easier to become a pro if you already have a bankroll. Play poker part time evenings and weekends part-time until you make as much as your full time day job.

Hello first of all do not go to leave your work since starting from scratch only playing freerolls takes a lot of time and effort, plays micro tournaments, you have to check your hands in the forums that you are subscribed to ask for councils and study what you can until you start Gain experience step by step and play more valuable tournaments, also look for tournaments that give tickets to really great tournaments and if you succeed you will strive to the maximum in getting to the winning positions. I hope you serve your luck with your poker career.

I think we have a winner here. If you can't do that, you will sink like a rock. You need to learn to be a winning player first. Everything else falls into place. Most people find they have a - ROI over 6 months to a year.

I can give you one piece of advice - you'll see that a professional has become his friend ... it's hard work and learning poker.

The posts above are solid advice, but I'd like to add something:

Study a lot. Do research and learn from pros on YT, books, ... Alternate with playing, and when you play, focus on practicing what you just learned.

I think you have to be patience and study a lot, of course. I guess the main thing you have to keep in mind the a professional is someone that is good at something (at least should be), so keep in mind that improving your game should be your focus, the money comes with the progress

If you want to be a pro, you must practice a lot and even that doesn't guarantee you that you will be the best. You need to have luck with cards and to know when to fold and when to play. You need to rely on your instincts a lot.

A pro is someone who is famous and plays poker.

You can win big games consecutively on pokerstars. They wont call you pro.

If christiano ronaldo plays, he is Pokerstars pro. So is neymar.

Keep winning big, they will have no option but to call you pro.

Im not Pro os anything close to that, but in my opinion, start traing a lot.
See if you have enough profit with low cash, always keep studying poker, hands, odds, really everything, how players bet when they are trying to make you fold, when they're bluffing, when they're trying to get money from you.
Always check this forum that is great to pokers lovers, :)
And if you start making money, do a little investiment and play high valuables tournaments.

Maximize profits and minimize losses, making profitable decisions, once you adapt that mindset to microstakes and start making money you can move up the ladder, when you get to the high stakes you can be considered a pro, it can takes months, it can takes years, until then you have to improve your game to arrive there faster

Read, Watch, Do...Repeat

I started playing at a friends house every Sat. night for about a year. I would win my fair share...okay not really.
Any way, it got me interested ever more interested when I had to stop what I was doing and take care of my elderly mother. Which she loved to watch the WSOP on TV. especially when it came to Phil or Phil, Hellmuth or Ivey.
At this point I began to read on the subject and I have personally read the following books from front to back and placed markers at what I thought was important points, I go over these again and again from time to time:
  • The Theory of poker: David Sklansky
  • Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players: David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth
  • Harrington on Hold'em, Vol 1, 2, and 3: Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie
  • Harrington on Modern Tournament Poker: Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie
  • Poker the Real deal: Phil Gordon
  • Super System A course in Power Poker: Doyle Brunson
  • Phil Gordon's Poker box set: Little blue, green and Black books
Just by reading these and practicing what is written in them on ClubWPT, Americas Card room and Home style Tournaments, I advanced my play.
I then found the App for my iphone "Tournament Poker Coach", admittedly this is a fantastic app for anybody from beginner to intermediate.
I progressed my play even more by joining Tournament Poker Edge although it is for online play and I'm a live player, it still helped me out and taught me quite a bit, I must admit I no long subscribe to them, none the less they are helpful.
My next move is to join Learn WPT as that is geared towards live play.
As for the WSOP and WPT, in 2015 I placed in 2 of the 5 I played in. This doesn't include tournaments at local casinos.
2016 I played in only one major tournament and didn't place.
So far in 2017 have placed in a WSOP circuit event and plan on more in Sept.
and again for the WPT at the Hollywood Seminole Hard Rock in November.
You can check it our at Hendon MOB for Raymond Claus.
Best advice anybody ever gave me is...stay positive and never stop learning!
Regards
Ray:)
