So after playing three hours in a deep stack tournament last night I got knocked out pretty stupidly, I was playing solid and folding 90% of hands and only playing big pairs and Big face cards. How do I combat this type of tilt, I thought I had trips when in fact I didn’t.

Is it tilt? You just played like a nit, that's fine.
Very often excessively aggressive and lucky opponents make you play only the best hands. In this there is nothing wrong.

walk away from the computer for 5 or so hands, grab a coffee, take a deep breath and come back. Also play more hands, keep your mind active to avoid misreads,

You are a NIT. You should open with wider hands. You can easy fold if miss flop, play aggressive if you hit something. You will feel comfort.
I think you should read some MTT books to learn MTT strategies.

I don't know if he should change his game - we all have poker personalities, and this is his.

Look, you maybe were fatigued and thought you saw a 3 when it was an 8 - NBD - the fact that you were three hours deep tells you that you played well.

Tilt is another animal altogether. Just keep your head together when you take a beat (bad or otherwise) and live to fight another day (hand).

It's very normal , this kind of feelings , you go deep on a tournament you don't do a lot of mistakes , but at a moment you find yourself out of that tournament in a situation where you were dominating that exact hand but you weren't lucky enough to hold and that happened to me and maybe everyone here many many times , just keep trying and trying never give up , if you're comfortable on the nit style and get better results with it just don't change it and better results will come.

I'm already very aggressive I open with several cards but I'm not always sure I'm learning to play my game, my quality of risk is also my fault: /

I've done that too - convinced that I was playing something that I wasn't. It only means one thing - you're tired. And, there's only one solution for that - get some sleep.

+1 to the don't be afraid to mix it up a little more camp, the blinds escalate in these things you know! :D

As for misreading your hand, I would suggest taking a little more time before committing large portions of your stack in a live setting. You weren't in a rush to win chips but you were in a rush to lose them? :p

Good luck to you!

when I feel that I fall on tilt, I get up for five minutes and then I go back to the game
