I am curious if anyone has any tips on how to battle superfish. I actually find myself struggling more against these players because they greatly overvalue their hands and i find it very difficult to distinguish their hands between a mediocore and high value hands. They also bluff a lot too in like situations that make no sense. So what strategy should i implement in order to beat these players over long time. I consistently wait for decent hands and get it in good on the flop getting called often as a 60/40 favorite or better but there has to be a better way for me to make a lot of money off these types of player. It is a live sng usually 9 man if that helps anyone. Thank you
It seems like a lot of people struggle with these players, i'm starting to think it's an emotional response from players who know that they are better players than the "superfish", but that's a story for another day.
These players you desribe play linear ranges, so they will get it in with hands that you would not suspect or would not get it in yourself with. So basically all you really have to do is to loosen your requirements to get your stack in, and don't be afraid to play in really big pots with hands you wouldn't normally.
If they are aggressive let them be the one betting and don't worry if you get outdrawn sometimes.
if they are the type that just calls all the time, bet and overbet the pot as a value bet you will get called by all sorts of hands.
Don't try and work out what hands they have, look more at betting patterns rather than them playing a certain hand in a certain way, they will change it up at the drop of a hat, betting patterns tend to be more solid. every player is differant but generally speaking big bets mean big hands, small bets mean bluffs, big preflop raises after limping and calling a lot generally mean big hands. But it's all subjective, keep an eye on what their betting patterns mean if at all possible.
But basically you want to get in as many pots with these guys as possible and let them do what they do, which is overplay their value hands, and bluff too much. You can just sit there all day picking them off over time. The cool thing is that once you have a dead read on a guy, you can just tear them apart all day long....
