hi everyone !

I am still playing at micro stakes (SNG/tourneys).
I often face opponents in some of the following situations :
- vilain limps, I raise x3/x4, and the vilain calls

- i have opened 3x BB IP, vilain calls, he checks, I bet big on the flop, like 2/3 of the pot or more, and he calls

and the "idiot" will keep calling until the river with probably thoughts like "I have completely missed the flop, but who knows, a king may come on the river, which would make my K3os the winning hand, and i would go allin; i'm just one click away from seeing another card after all...... click"

The top pair that you flopped and that you bet aggressively, often gets beaten.
that happens 2/3 times, and it is enough to seriously hit your stack.
and you just have to have a few russians/ukrainians/romanians at your table (i noticed those guys more often than not play that way), to get in such a situation.

i know you have to play tighter against calling stations, but you can't really fold a premium hand against a calling station. and you don't get trips or higher often enough to safely bet against those calling stations.

It always bugs me and surprises me to see such a play in the example situations i quoted, when the guy checks, then calls your big raises until showdown, when you see, he was running after a flush which he missed, or a str8 he had only 4 outs from the flop etc...

yes, there is maybe a little bit of tilt :p.
Any tips to share on how to beat those slow players at micro stakes ? (not an easy question i'm aware of that)

Limit your bluffs and value bet mercilessly, if they get there on the river nothing you can do about it. Pot control check if you think your hand might be best but don't wanna bet bet bet. Just play honest ABC poker with them basically. I used to have trouble with these types because I play too agressive at times. Adopt a more TAG style against these guys

I forgot to mention. Since this is a tournament setting, you want to avoid confrontations with these guys unless you have a strong hand because most of the time, a ton of chips are going into the pot. Don't try to steal from them too often. Sometimes you have to just bet bet hero call if they're the type that call call and bet whenever you check. Don't play marginal hands OOP. Pot control if you're afraid of getting beat. Personally, I just bet bet bet for value most of the time against this type. Unless there are other fish on the table in which case I might value my tournament life more and pot control to stay alive and just gradually chip up by bullying fish.

There are times when you can 3 barrel bluff them too because if they missed flop, they still aren't gonna hit anything by the river a good amount of the time. Of course its a high risk high reward play and you have to read their tendencies and their range pretty well.

Stations are definitely frustrating when you know you have the best hand and keep betting only to get sucked out.

Gotta love them when you have a real hand though. They're just all too happy to give you their chips

You need players like these to make a lot of your money. Just make it expensive for them to keep calling, they will get lucky from time to time but stick to your game plan.

thanks guys !

oh yeah, the very few times you hit a monster, you can make a lot of money from them.
but in the meantime, while you are betting on a top pair on flop, open ended flush/str8 draw, middle pair with gutshot str8 draw, such hands, it's hard .... :-\

With these guys are good to make pot control, and case complete the straight / flush on the board is a good idea to do a check, because callingStations they generally do not have much idea of value bet.

for me there 2 kinds of CS . some you can take a lot of chips cause there are donks and some who's kmow what they do ( a lot of CG players) who fold only on turn or river and not before if they dont decide to flaot you or bluff oop .
the first type is easy to play , the second more difficult cause turn or river could be a scary card then u are not sure to be ahead......

I tend to make a continuation bet of 3bb and don't go above that if I bet again so I'm limiting the amount of chips I can potentially lose but making a tidy pot if I win
