This is a discussion on How to add the before with the number of big blinds? within the online poker forums, in the Tournament Poker section; Good people.
Sometimes I get a little lost in tournaments with before to know the health of my stack.
Does anyone have any efficient way of considering
The typical method of judging your stack is by the number of Big Blinds you have remaining. For instance, if you have 10,000 chips and the blinds are 250 / 500 then you have 20 Big Blinds left.
When basing it on the number of Big Blinds left, here are some general guidelines to consider.
Over 100 Big Blinds and you have a monster stack.
50-100 Big Blinds and you have a very strong stack. Play to maintain it.
30-50 Big Blinds you have a healthy stack, but you need to play to build on it or other people can easily catch up over the next few blind levels.
20-30 Big Blinds and you have a typical stack.
10-20 Big Blinds and your stack is getting critical. You need to start picking up chips or the blinds and antes are going to eat you up.
Under 10 Big Blinds and you are in a desperate situation. Many people will just go all-in with any two decent cards.
