Although formally this is not pure quality, no one will deny that without luck in a mass tournament it is almost impossible to get to the very top. The variety of winners of the World Series tournaments is further evidence of this.

I agree 100%. You have to win most of the flips that you're supposed to win and a few that you're not. Won a big (for me) tournament the other day. Every time I started with the best hand, I won. A couple of times I won with the worst starting hand.

Played the same tournament the very next day and busted out early. I played the same both days. The only differenced was luck on the first and not on the second.

Without a doubt. You can be a great player, but if you run way below EV, you're never going to have good results.
