I have always wanted to read this book. I am a decent MTT player, and I am looking for a book that is still valid to todays online games. For example, I know that Super System is basically just a guide to spewing money to everyone you play with.

I guess my question is this: Is this still a very valuable read for todays MTT player? :hmmmm:

I ask because I just got enough points to purchase for free in the FTPA store. It is either that or a hoodie.

Thanks all

I'd just pick it up from a library instead.
Your question as to whether or not it'd be relevant to today's NLHE Tournaments.... personally I think that it is a book that should be read by any Tournament player.. especially prior to reading something more current. Thing is, more 'current' stuff that I'm aware of is more geared towards high buyin play (online.. which can be directly related to high buyin live play to an extent... not to be confused with your typical casino lower buyin donkament (mostly due to totally different structure but also due to totally different players).
I guess what I'm saying is > I'd look to get HOH Vol.1 from a library because you'll likely only want to read it once or twice. Save the pts. for a better book (once you're read HOH Vol. 1 & 2). < this is what I'd do anyways (note - I've read dozens upon dozens of poker books, just so you know I'm not making this statement based on reading only one or two books & then making a suggestion from that).

The best NLHE Tournament book out there is "Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time" (Vol.1). You won't regret it at all.

Thank you very much PO. I never thought to try my local library because I didn't think they would have poker strategy books. I guess I will never know unless I go look.

Thanks again for the advice.

yea, i read HOH series, moshman, and then learned the abc system and it seemed to be a decent path for me for sngs.

i know there is basic stuff in moshman that i wouldn't have understood if i didnt read HOH, and there is basic/advanced stuff (depending on your level i guess) in ABC that i wouldn't have understood if i didn't read moshman.

And I (at least) can't absorb everything and organizing thoughts with out taking notes, and then take my notes and break it down into pictures/charts. A picture says 1000 words. For alot of people I think notes will make a big difference.

You could pm me. I have HoH 1 in a zipped PDF which I could send to you.

Like Poker Orifice mentioned, Winning Poker Tournaments One hand at a time is great.
I read part 1 of this and will reread it again more intensely.
After that I'll start with part 2.
Reading about the decision making process of these guys is very interesting, and I think very valuable in your learning curve.
