Hey guys, new to the forum and holdem manager 2.
I've been playing 3.5$ 6max sng turbos for a while now. turned 15$ into 250$ in a month and now going through a 33buy-in downswing.
I definitely have some leaks in my game but im sure i play a really solid game overall for the stake and have been getting really sick beats. set over set runner runner flush etc. you know how it goes :p is it possible that its truely a really bad swing or do i actually have major leaks to go through -33buyins?

Using the hm2 trial for the last two days and just wanted someone to explain this please -
Winnings - $132.62
Net Winnings - -$36.85
$EV - 165.47

Thanks

I believe the $EV is what you should have won based on all-in equity preflop in the hand. So it is "kind of" an indication on how well you are running.

So if net winnings are in negative and $EV is positive does it mean I'm running bad?

I dunno now, I looked it up a bit and can't seem to figure it out. For tourney/sng poker I don't think $EV is a very useful stat to be using from what I've read.
$EV might actually be from when you get all-in within the hand instead of only pre-flop.

The HM2 $EV for SnGs factors in ICM as far as I'm aware. So if there's an all-in near the bubble, even if you aren't involved in the hand, it will effect your $EV. Say there are 3 people left in a 6max game, and the other 2 players go all-in, you are rooting for the short-stack to lose so that you can get in the money. The $EV will be adjusted based on the $ you expect to gain in terms of ICM based on how often the short-stack is supposed to bust in that situation.

I'm not exactly sure of all the details of how its calculated, but I know they factor in situations like those.

Thanks for the reply man. So for a sng player is there anyway to tell if your running worse than normal? I'm almost certain it's just a bad run but according to you is 30+ buy in downswing normal?

Tournament poker has high variance , 33 buyins seems reasonable for a downswing . Just do some reviews and make sure you are not missing shove spots or getting it in bad too often . Turbos also increase the variance as you will inherently be all in preflop more than normal sngs . Do some review and keep plugging away and I bet it will turn around . GL at the tables .
