I'm new to reviewing hand histories and I could use a few pointers. I only play turbo SNG tournaments and most of the hands play themselves because of the structure imo. I go over my histories anyways and try to look for leaks and mistakes and I take notes.

What types of things do you look for when reviewing your HH?

How often to do you review?

How many hands/tourneys and how long do you spend reviewing?

In general any tips on how I can be more productive while reviewing would be appreciated thanks!

Get a HUD or something, you want to identify leaks so you need to aggregate your hands into a mathematical presentation to do so.
IE are you calling too many raises from the BB.
Without an application; toggle by pot size that you were in relative to blinds and focus on those to start.
Also as I referenced above, you'll want to look at play in and around the button after that for a good spot to ID holes in your game.

I have pt but I play on bovada so I don't use the hud.

That makes sense, since I should be playing more pots in position it's going to be where more decisions come into play. Thanks.

If you are reviewing the HH manually I must agree with tarsh. Check out where you are picking spots to raise, or call. I would also say that looking for consistency in your calling ranges and betting ranges may be helpful(ie do you mix it up with2x-5x bets to keep your opponents on their toes, or do you bet 3x EVERY hand no matter AA or J10) . There of course is an endless amount of stuff you can survey and focus on, but as you are most likely already aware, there is only a limited amount of stuff you can spend your time on that will prove worth while. Thanks for your reply.

I don't use an active HUD either, even though I have the option on some skins I play. I do however use the HUD application for HH reviewing etc as it adds info for last X hands or by tournament etc.

So even without it actually being utilized as a HUD still a valuable tool for review and identification.

Also helps to trade hands with people who are interested in doing the same as well, fresh set of eyes and all that.

Review your medium hands rather than the obvious AA KK hands that almost play themselves. Also look for situations that occur frequently as reviewing something as rare as straight flushes or quads is a bit futile but reviewing how you played a fourflush or similar may open your eyes to things either you or your opponent frequently get wrong. My own method is to review any hands where I've made a significant loss in HEM 2 on the vs player tab
