My friend, I'm playing in high school now, and out of 20 tournaments I've only scored 56 points. I only have bad stacks, although I play very well and carefully. I also lose with AA and KK and AK color. My advice is to have the patience that your time will come. It's a tough time, but it will definitely go away. You just have to not be discouraged.

I'm the same. For two days in a row I have had pretty much no decent hands. When I have, and feel I've played them okay, a chip leader continously hits the river. I don't mind this it's poker, but it's happening all the time and can grate a bit. Hopefully I can ride it through.

Hi,Last year I played league in my City and I was 8 in league table after 8 games and 2/12 in masters. I think You need to be patient and if you knmow that You played good poker You should play like this next time :)
Remember to try make the best place in every single league game, play tight, mostly because in that kind of tournaments there is a lot of weak players :)

Bad beats and coolers are part of poker and we all must accept it and no tilt :)

Disregard your bad beats. Focus on how you're playing the rest of your game. Tight, aggressive poker is fine when you have an M of 15+, but are you adjusting as your preflop SPR drops? what are you doing when you drop to 10? To 5? You can't stick to vpip of 15% for the whole tourney. Make sure you're adjusting based on your stack and taking shots. Not hitting premium cards can be a problem, but you should be making up for it by balancing your range to disguise your monsters. Once in a while, three bet hard with JTs. Poker is about more than playing tight and getting it in good. It's about picking spots, and weighing the range you're representing against the showdown value of what you actually have.

It's crazy, it seems to be just as bad as the flu virus that's been going around this year. I swear I have been catching nothing but suck outs and suck out Time After Time. I can honestly say out of 10 hands where I am the favorite, and I'm not just talking about having a 3% to 8% Edge when all in preflop or I three or four bet the guy. Example, same Tournament, Within 30 minutes of each other . I had AA UTG,( blinds at this moment were 100 200 chip stack around 35,000) a man in middle position makes a raise 6x the BB. Everyone ahead of him folds gets to me, I put him on Mid pair 10-10 or JJ. I come over the top with a raise of 4500. One other guy that called in early position folded exactly what I wanted, just to be up against him, he was sitting with a chip stack of a round 18000. He shoves I insta call he turns over 55, Flop comes A-5-J,Turn 9, River of Coarse 5.. wow! Okay so I take a bad beat still sitting with about 20,000. I make it to hand-for-hand (chip Stack, 46,000 Blinds at 800/1600)
3 people need to get knocked out until we make the money. I told myself I am not playing anything unless I get AA or KK.. What do I get, KK Early Position, I opened with a raise of 20, 000.. I honestly didn't even want a single person to call. I would have been just fine with the blinds and Antes LOL.. of course a guy in Middle position shoves on me he had me covered bye a solid 15,000 chips. So I put him on AJ or a low pair, I was thinking, he was thinking, "I'll just shove I got this guy covered, Hill fold and I'll gain 20,000 chips."?? And what does the man sleep over? The infamous pocket 55... in a sick way I just knew he was going to flop a 5 , and sure enough on the BUBBLE , flop comes
5- - - -... hey at least he didn't get quads this time.. four and a half hours in a $5,000 guarantee tournament. And I bust a bubble, checking myself thinking why did I just not click the hit me up button and go take a 5 minute smoke break! Anyways sorry for the novel on a tournament. LOL I just had 2 let you guys know I as well has been getting too many, way too many, situations like that in the last 3 weeks I would say.

have you tried posting troublesome HHs on the tournament hand analysis section? im sure youll get more specific answers to your problem there

generally, playing TAG are best on those leagues i think, just like any other freerolls

Personally, i've noticed that guys who really managed to make a success in OPL are players who really play aggressive from middle phase of the tournament and on. Make a research of your own and try it out ;)

Hi ammje. You can track your progress against other Cardschat members at this tread
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-goals-challenges-wins-46/pokerstars-university-league-324167/

I have added your name to the list and it will appear in the next update. There is also one for the masters league.

Now back to your question.
1. They are still freerolls, so expect some free roll type playing. We also have it in the masters league but not as often. Only today there was this player going all-in every two hands on average. He lasted for about an hour and got to nearly $10,000, before being eliminated. I managed to double up only once, and was pleased to see the end of him.

2. It's hard to give an opinion, without seeing how the hands were played out, so I can only encourage you to take kozong's advise.

Good luck in the university league and hopefully see you in the masters next month. That's if I can stay there.

Well, it's difficult, since they are better players that participate there, I would only recommend you, be patient in the tournaments, and that luck be with you. The good thing is that you have not descended.

Well, I am still in the High School league and I am looking forward to be playing the University!

I play the league because I like soccer, I don't if you know soccer leagues, but if you do here's my advice : like in soccer, no team gets promoted all the way up one season at a time, they struggle in each division and get better otherwise they stay or get relegated. And I like the pokerstars league feature because it is really similar to soccer leagues!!

Well, what I'm trying to say is that you have to be patient and to try to get better, there is no such advice you can find in here which will facilitate the task. You have to improve your game by yourself... And if you don't, I will catch up and we will meet at the tables xD

There were some comments in the league comments section about bad beats. Usually about bad beats against chip leaders on the river.
My advice or comment was simple - don't go all in against chip leaders - which I see as quite good advice. I have now been blovked from the forums and from leaving comments.
