Hi everyone,

My goal is to become skilled at MTT's. What are the best books that i should read?

Does anyone else have this goal? What are you doing to accomplish it?

Does anyone use video screen capture programs to record there tournaments and review for analysis?

If so do you have any tips on how I should analyze my tournament?
How do you review hands youve played, and which hands?

Thanks ahead of time to everyone for posts. I hope we all learn a lot together. :D

Hi everyone,

My goal is to become skilled at MTT's. What are the best books that i should read?
'It depends'... what books have you read up to this point?
If none, start off with Phil Gordon's 'Little Green Book' (if you've already read some stuff & have a bit of experience, maybe pass on this one).
For MTT's:
Harrington On Hold'em Vol. 1 & 2
These books are outdated but they'll give you a decent foundation to work from.

Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time, Vol.1, 2, & 3.
These are probably the best nlhe tournament books you'll find anywhere.

Other books to consider:
"Kill Everyone"
"Raiser's Edge" (< sort of a sequel to 'Kill Everyone').
Does anyone else have this goal? What are you doing to accomplish it?
No. But may have had simliar in the past. I find it difficult to get motivated for poker these days.
Does anyone use video screen capture programs to record there tournaments and review for analysis?
No. But you could download a hand replayer (like Popopop) & then just plug in your handhistories (drag & drop on the HandReplayer). It works well.

If so do you have any tips on how I should analyze my tournament?
How do you review hands youve played, and which hands?
Hands I felt I could've played differently, (ie. didn't max out value).
Thanks ahead of time to everyone for posts. I hope we all learn a lot together. :D
Try posting some hand histories for analysis in the forum!
gl!

yes dan harrington is sure what he means.
and you can pm me and elaborate on what you need to accomplish and i can try to help better.
being successful in mtts is far more advanced than a simple question and there are many more areas to cover.
super system by texas dolly is as good start.
but there are several and also forums like this.
I have been a successful winning live and online tournament player for over five years and would be more thsn willing to give you some pointers.
just send over that pm .

How to win MTT

The best way to get great at mtt is practice makes perfect
I would start at 50 seat sng than move up to 100 seat
Every day playing will help
Also it has always helped to play live with your family.

if u are going to review your game

my suggestion is use HM2 or PT4
there is a link from cards chat, just check to find if there is any promotion on that software.

u could review your hand history and game replay.

the second tools is use universal replayer <-- just google it
it's free, but I still prefer to use a PT4 or HM2 , since PT4 or HM2 could also keep or a record of ur winning record -- in real money.

The Harrington and/or the Gordon books are good, but I prefer Sklansky's or Hellmuth's. Now many say that these are not relevant in today's more Agro styles. But fundamentals are mandatory and these lay them out quite nicely!! Hellmuth's addresses the MANIAC in particular!!

I wonder where a person could get all those books in one place. Along with rational review and constant updates? Hmmmm... oh yeah.

CARDSCHAT
that's where.

Still looking to learn also

Well a good book that I plan in buying soon is Dan Harrington on Holdem I heard its really good along with his other book for more advanced players. So far to better my game I been trying to apply what I been reading and takeing notes on in the learning section on this forum sit. I really think playing position is really important along with good discipline and setting goals. You started part of this so now just continue to grow by continueing ti learn more about the game.:D
