Hello, after 2 days i have tournament, but if i succeed to play well at the beginning and increased my stack , what to do to stay focused on the game because after playing from 3-4 hours I think I get tired and I take inappropriate decisions. I think the tournament will be long and hard , I guess there will be many good and decent players , but still want to try , I will ask if you can tell me a few tips for those tournaments with a lot of people and long hours . the tournament is not turbo blinds go up in seven minutes . thank you.

Just play very passive on start, and agressive at the end of the tournament

I see u have more of a problem with staying focused on the game then actually how to play it, well i am sorry to say, but u improve your focus by playing that kind of tournament where blinds go up on every 7 min, and thats why they tend to last longer then 5min blinds change or 3 min, so keep playing as many as u can to get used to them, or even better play multi tables this will also be hard for u at the beginning but with time ull get better and better at it, u will be able to maintain your focus over a bigger period of time and improve your patience which is paramount for this game.

Play tight, there's a poker odds chart on starting hands that could help, basically stay away from low cards unless they can both make a straight and a flush

You could also try snacking. I definitely use that strategy for late night online tournaments. Just eat something that you enjoy in handfuls (like peanuts, pecans, popcorn, potato chips) whenever you feel that your mind is starting to stray. You can also drink something with caffeine in to help boost your brain (coffee, tea, coke). Also be sure to stay away from alcohol.

I've had the same problem for the longest. I will register for MTTs that have 3 and 5 hour late regiseration and in 1 or 2 hours, I'm like, I don't even know why I registered. But what it takes is to be determined to play it all before you start. I know the 5 hour one takes 6 or 7 hours. What I do about it is play only cash there, and win me at least $5. That's why I play my MTTs at Full Flush. 3 hours is the longest any of those last. GL to you

Long tournaments

After many hours at the table it can start to feel tiring. One think I do in order to keep myself engaged at the table is to continue to watch every hand closely and try to put each person on a range of hands... when you are not in a hand is a great time to do this because it keeps you alert and you can pick up on things to use later in the tournament as well.
