Hey there...
Ive been playing alot of these lately on Pokerstars on the micro category - 2 and 5 $. I'm not that bad at them at the beggining, in fact I start ahead (chip leader) most of the times, if not all the time. My problem is: when they get bored and start doing all-in's. I dont know if God doesn't like me or so, but I always lose against them in All-in, if they have a crappy hand or not. I dont actually remember winning an All-in hand in HU.
Can anyone help me in this subject. Coz after 10 or 20 times you really start getting pissed off and losing alot of money (a few bucks yeah, but i'm no rich).
Try watching how the players at the highest buyin levels are playing them.... the ones who are winning players.
Typically... early levels and winning a few pots can be pretty insignificant... often early levels being a time to be 'training villain'. Once the blinds escalate what you're assuming is a donkey shove might actually be the 'correct' play. If you watch the high buyin players ($200>$1,000 HU sng players), you might be very surprised to see how light they're shoving once blinds reach 40/80, 50/100 range... ie. J7s, etc., as it takes a much better hand to call with than to shove with.
tip - be looking to shove from the button pretty wide and be fairly tight with calling in BB (unless you're getting the
odds to do so).
You might just be running bad..... but you might have some leaks in your game too from the sounds of it.
note: by suggesting to watch a bunch of high buyin HU Sng's...I'm not suggesting to play your typical micro villain in the same manner necessarily... only saying to check them out in order to 'perhaps' better understand what 'might' be a good/better/best way to play them (although obviously one needs to make adjustments with whoever you're playing against).
I've done this for all forms of poker I play.... and for all forms I hope to pursue or am in the throes of pursuing, etc... ie. when I first got into playing SNG STT (aside from studying the game, reading books/posts/articles, watching training vids. etc.), I would also watch some of the higher buyin players playing the games. It was a real eye-opener for me (and now have continued to do so albeit quite a bit differently from before... ie. ghosting some of the top MTT players online).
If it's 'really' just a situation of donks playin' bad & getting 'lucky'... what can you do about it anyways? (aside from adjusting and working at getting your chips in good). You can't make them play a different way... you can only adjust to the way they're playing and exploit their weaknesses/tendancies to the max.
