In HU play what would be considered poor holdings at a full table such as A3o are great hands. Since you and your opponent will miss the flop more often than not, the high card is often enough to win the pot.
Also, folding the button is a mistake unless your opponent always raises or shoves every time you call from the button and you have a crap hand like 32o (actually the worst hand HU) that you don't want to take to a showdown. For example, if the blinds are 200/400, the total pot is 600 so at a minimum you always have 3:1 pot odds
to call from the button. If antes are in play the odds are higher.
