Hello mates, actually i have been playing at poker stars recently and am doing quite well by reaching top 100(one out of 5 times) in a field of 5000+...
But i have a real problem in final stages. The only reason i fail making to top 10 is that suddenly every one plays too aggressively that i don't understand wat to do and end up losing my chips....:(
So if u can tell me with wat range of hands can i call these huge preflop bets and wat range i should fold, i would really appreciate it...
Thank you !!!
Waiting eagerly for the replies mates... :)

Sounds like you need to learn I.C.M. independent chip model. It's a mathematical theory that helps you with endgame decisions when the blinds have grown large in comparision to the remaining stacks.
I downloaded "Stngowiz" and found that very helpful when I was focusing on Tourneys.
They have a free trial to see if you like it. I think it is essential as if you want win tourneys, as you have to know this aspect of game theory

^^this^^

With the M of the remaining players dropping <10 because of huge blinds you will often find yourself in this situation in late stages of MTTs.

At this point you will often only have two options - shove or fold.

Sometimes you will have to win HU coinflips in order to get to the FT.

As a rule of thumb I look at opponents preflop raising range figuring that their shoving + call ai range in late stages will be close to their initial raising + calling range.

Depending on position and reads (or HEM stats) my preflop shoving range varies here including AQo, AQs, AKo, AKs, 66+.

The strategy section of CC covers this pretty well, too. Try this link => Multi Table Tournament Guide

Thanks for the useful replies mates...
Whats really confusing for me is post flop action....
People shove too much after flop, and even if i hit top pair at flop, i fold fearing to lose my 750,000 CHIPS, after all is it worth shoving all my chips for just a top pair post flop ??? I mean what hand strength u need to shove post flop? is just a top pair with ace, king or queen kicker sufficient to shove? i get confused here a lottt... I desperately need to get to no 1 spot .....
so please share me your wisdom and help me tackle the situation successfully...
ur opinions mean a lot to me mates...:)
thank you !!!

the range described by grafkarow isn't bad, but your not going to get all that many good hands anyway. Be aware of the gap concept as well. Even though your stack to pot ratio is very low, you still down want to call your stack with your minimum opening range, and most people are going to be somewhere in the middle of their minimum opening range and the top of their range. Pairs are good because it's basically 50/ 50 you own the tie. You have to learn to shove and steal as well. If the table is letting people steal when the sove all in pre, then you will have to get some of those chips even if your stack is somewhat even. A8 if the threshhold for me, as there are 5 kickers above me and 6 below me with an ace. Throw your absolute trash away, and take your chances. Don't be afraid to go around the blinds once or twice more. Don't get so impacient where your going in with JT or something. If you don't have atleast an ace in your hand, you should assume your an underdog.

Generally speaking.... you don't 'call' huge preflop raises in Late stages.... there's alot more to it then that... ie. you're looking at stack sizes on the table, especially the ones to your left... if there are some re-steal sized stacks then you need to consider tightening up your open-raising range because you'll be priced in to call if they do ship it in. Also you need to consider stack sizes that are sized to 3-bet vs. your open raise.
As far as calling goes.... I'm considering what odds I'm getting with what's in the pot & if I'm closing out the action.... what villain's range is, etc. Late stage play is more often about 3-bet/call shove, or 3bet resteal shove, etc. etc.... NOT about flat-calling big open raises.
^ some really brief, non-specific examples.... but trying to get point across that there's more to it in late stage play.... stack sizes are very important (as are player reads)

dont be afraid to get your chips in but always call big raises with premium holdings in the late stages. After the flop you need to evaluate where you think you are in the hand a lot of people try making moves in the late stages and you can knock a lot of them out, I try to avoid coin flips if I have a nice stack but if I am the one low on chips I will shove a lot more often with coin flip situations

Figure out your opponent.

Think about what you will need to beat them.

Make your own "moves" sometimes.
