Final 3 players
Hero: 50 BB
Villain 1: 20 BB
Villain 2: 8 BB

Hero just took out with final 4th player with KK. Next hand he gets A3 off suit and is in dealer position. What would you do?

Under those conditions, if I'm the hero, I will shift to a waiting game for a few rounds. I'll let the other two fight it out. A3o is eactly the kind of hand that I know is potential trouble.

With the big stack it is (IMHO) a good idea to see how the other 2 adjust before getting more actively engaged.

Yeah, 3 handed and the opening requirements are way lower, but a player with only 8 bbs is looking to double up quick, so thats the first ingredient in our accessment of how this new adjustment works out. The guy with 20 bbs, vs the guy with 8 bbs will be hesitant to get it in against a shove by shorty. One could easily expect shorty to be the agro here. Shorty realizes that to get further, something is gonna have to happen real soon. He is (or should be) in shove mode.

A3o is a great hand for stealing the blinds. Along with suited connectors any pocket pair and anything better than K9s.

Raise and call if the short stack shoves. Very hard to win a tourny if you openfold A3, three handed.

Suppose you raise and the Villain 1 with 20BB goes all in. What would you do?

Scenario 1) What if you just call and small blind who has 20BB goes all in?
Scenario 2) 20BB calls, short stack fold. Flop A 9 4 rainbow. 20BB all in. what you do?

I play Ace 3 only being 3 handed. but not sure if I would call a raise with A-3,
if someone has another ace they are raising with, I know that they will most likely have a better kicker than a 3.

If villain with 20 BB goes all in I would fold. A3 is not good enough to call off 18 BB more with, even three handed, imo.

My nobleman, I am always following your reasoning and that of MTcashman, I want to think alike to you when I am playing. No doubt you are very wise. I am flattered to play with the Lords and the other leaders of the Cardschat.

Raise 2-2.5x. Fold to 20BB all in. Call the short stack 8BB all in.

I would play it the exact same way, A3 is a pretty strong hand 3 handed. I would make it a 2.5 times the big blind raise.

I mostly like to raise in dealer position having 50bb.
