The tournament HA sub-forum seems to need more traffic. It seems like a lot of people at least read through hands but very few post their thoughts. A rather tragic circumstance. However, something occurred to me recently after reading someone's response in a HA thread. When asked why they weren't responding to other hands in HA they basically said "I'm not sure if I'm good enough and don't want to give bad advice." If something like this is keeping you from responding to stuff in HA...STOP IT! Go respond already!

I guess this thread is simply here to encourage people to respond and post in HA. It doesn't matter if you're "good enough" to give other people advice, it might even be quite beneficial for you (and others) if you happen to give some bad advice and generate discussion. Posting in those threads is generally +EV for all involved. Responses shouldn't be taken as gospel, rather they should be used to generate more ideas and ideally help people work towards better decision making.

tl;dr - suck it up and respond/post in the HA sub-forum. It's good learnin'!

Having people comment on your hands is one thing - it gives you advice on that specific situation and if you're lucky it'll be coming from people who know what they're talking about. But it's mostly a passive process.

Responding to someone else's hand forces you to have an opinion, to think about what you would do and why. In a way it's the perfect learning opportunity because there's not even any money on the line so the consequences for getting something "wrong" are minimal. If you're not super-confident it's OK to say so, but don't let it stop you from posting.

Improving our thought processes are what will improve our game, not just being given a correct solution to an individual problem.

As a relative newcomer to posting in Hand Analysis, I can assure my brother and sister newbs that the natives are very helpful and understanding and don't bite. Not hard, anyway.

Reading the Posting Guidelines sticky is highly recommended. Take it from someone who didn't; they let me live, as a warning to others.

Seriously; you'll learn things there that just don't sink in when presented as stand alone concepts sans context. Time well spent.

Random follow-up thought. People like to see results for their lines of thinking...would a thread in this forum or a sticky in HA to which people could post hand results potentially generate more interest?

Like...3-4 days after you post a hand you could go post the results in this hypothetical HH Results thread and link it in a reply in the original HA thread.
