That is a tuff call. I would have to fold thinking he has my top pair beat.

Did you call?

I would've check raised flop or led out river and folded to a raise.

I have to say that's a tough spot, no doubt. You might have done it to yourself with that weak pre-flop raise. Min raises, in my opinion, tend to be ineffective at moving players off of their hands. Once they look down and decide that they want to see a flop with their small connectors or suited garbage, a min raise is just one more blind then what they were already willing to call. It's even less effective when it's the SB min raising, and the BB is already expecting someone to try to steal his blind with a late position raise.

Personally, I would have played it a little more aggressive, even at the risk of chasing the BB off. To me, this is similar to the way we often see people get bitten by trying to slow play aces. I would have made it at least 3x to see the flop and bet at least 2/3 pot flop and turn to discourage chasing. I also agree with Yoshi that you should have bet the river. By checking the river you make yourself look scared and open yourself up to a bluff. Trust me, I know. I will often check the river when I'm holding the nutz, or think I'm ahead, with the intention of inducing a bluff.

So here you are now. In a tough spot. Being put to the test when you should have been the one applying the pressure. Probably wondering if this guy has the balls to be bluffing here. Probably wishing you had played it a little differently, maybe a little more aggressively. So do you believe him. I have a tendency to be somewhat of a skeptic. But then again, I would have played it a little differently.

SB vs. BB I would have raised more like 3.5 bb's pre Flop maybe give him less incentive to call. After the bet call on the flop as played I'd go into check call mode. And probably fold big bet on the river villain has all kinds of hands that have you beat.
